I am new to the blaster it is a fun little quad have read about port and polish for one how much does it help and will a new pipe help any at all thanks

Porting will wake it up. You will notice a huge difference in power, add a modded head to that, and you'll have a nice motor.

A good pipe will help also, everyone has their preference's. Find one that suits your riding style and needs, and re-jet and plug chop to make sure its set up right.

Thanks what is plug chop and can I just get my head milled and any recommendations on a pipe

The head needs to be milled an rechambered to really get the benefits, also porting if done right will make it seem like completely different bike, also reeds help alot once properly ported an head mods, if iI was doing just a average woods bike id run a fmf exhaust, there are alot of better pipes then that but, fmf is a nice average bottom end power woods pipe, but if you get porting an mods done ask your porter what pipe they recommend for there port work an your riding conditions

You can just get a cut head. I run DMC Alien pipes with porting and a head cut. Its a low, mids pipe.

Call Ken at 860-230-5003 to find out about porting and head mods pricing. Its money well spent, and he will not waste you time.

Before you make the plug chop run it is important that the float level is correct, the idle is set correctly and there are no air leaks in the system, otherwise the smoke ring may lie about the AFR.

WHEN ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE CORRECT PROCEED WITH THE FOLLOWING.

Warm up motor to operating temp.

Fit new B8ES plug, ride WOT through the gears and hold WOT in 5th or 6th gear for 10 seconds, or as long as you can safely.

Switch off the motor and pull in the clutch, apply brakes to come to a stop quickly.

Take the plug out and replace the old one for the ride home.

Carefully cut the threaded end off the plug to expose the insulator.

There should be a smoke ring of a cardboard or biscuit colour around the insulator.

If it is non existant or a very light colour, you are lean and require a larger main jet.

If it is a lot darker you are rich and may go down a size in main.

I prefer to run a little on the darker side, I may loose a little power but it is worth it for the peace of mind that I won't need a rebuild so soon.

You have to get up a reasonable speed so that you can get the motor to pull strongly.

Then hold it Wide Open Throttle (WOT) for 10 secs or as long as you can.

The idea is not to get speed but to make it pull strong at full throttle to get onto the main jet circuit.

I find I can safely do it on a short run by applying the brakes some.

If you have not enough room you can use 4th or 5th gear with good results.

Wow thanks for the info I feel like I'm getting smarter by the min on this forum lots of helpful tips

Well worth the investment.Just make sure you do all your homework (as you are doing) before you starting modding or else you will be collecting your piston piece by piece from the bottom of your crank case!
