I was just wondering since i have my top end off if i should polish the intake and exhaust ports? Would only removing carbon and polishing make any difference?

Polishing the exhaust port may help breathing a little, and help prevent carbon buildup.
Do not polish the intake as you may experience fuel beading which upsets atomisation.
Inlets should be slightly less than smooth.
