Hi all.
I have decieded to go for oil block off. But i dont wanna spend money on the block off kit. So i have done a little research and come to the conclusion that it is possible to remove the oil tank and the oil gear from the pump and thereby make it possible some other time to re-mount it.

My Blaster is a 2005 so can anyone please tell me the procedure of removing the gear? And what hose needs to be sealed off with a screw? the one that goes to the carb? Pictures will be very appreciated..

And finally... When im ready to mix myself what ratio will be good (and safe!) for good performance and reliability? The engine is a 68mm bore / Wiseco piston, cleanup port, Toomey B1 racing exhaust and V3 reedcage.

And i know its a stupid question but when somebody says 10:1 it mean 10 parts gasoline and 1 part oil . If in liters it mean 10 liters gasoline and 1 liter of oil ? Correct? :)

Thanks in advance..

Lasse

I'm sure that the procedure is around here and probably includes pictures. Try looking in the DIY section.

The ratio that most people seem to run is 32:1, meaning 32 parts gas and 1 part oil. Make sure you are using the correct oil also. (2 stroke)

Liters, ounces, gallons and all that....32 parts gas, 1 part oil.

This is a sticky about premixing...

This should help you with the rest. There are no pictures though.

Hi thanks for replying.

Ok i will read the thread although there is no pictures! :( (I really like that! :)

I guess ill stick with 32:1 then..

If anybody has some pictures of the oil gear and pump etc. I would be cool to post them..

thanks

Doing a search might uncover more helpful threads. I know I've seen threads with pictures regarding this issue. I just saw one the other day, but I'm too lazy to go find it...

i run 32:1
take off the oil injection cover(right front side of motor)
undo the 2 screws that hold the pump on.
pull the pump off, you might hve to wiggle it
then pull the hoses off the pump.
re install the pump cover
the hose that goes to your carb, cut it with about an inch left of tubing and put a screw in there.
now you can go ahead and take the tank and oil lines off.
dont forget to save the rubber piece that goes into the top of the oil cover. plug it with silicone
drain your gas, dont forget the reservoir.

Or you can do it an even easier way.

cut the lines on top of the pump cover seal them off (screws, caps)
plug the hole going to your carb
rip the tank and hoses out
drain gas and premix

Ok I think i get the part by removing the pump, but the really question is how to remove the gear / shaft? .. so it is saved, but disabled.. Any pictures of remove gear from pump would be great..

And another impotant question! .. When i remove the clutch cover .. do I need to drain gearoil first????

And lastly the clutch cover is the opposite than the front sprocket side, right?

Yes the cover is on the right side... And drain your trans oil before taking it apart

Don't even worry about the pump, just remove the plastic gear.

Go to a csk, or auto zone and get the smallest vacumm cap they have I used a 1/8" or 3.17mm

Now remove the kick starter first, you may want to use a braker bar.

once the cover is off the plastic gear will be attached with a circlip and a small bar.

Once its off it should look like this

Now cut the oil line that gose to the oil tank to the pump, cut it like 2" away from the pump. now let it drain into a bucket. Now take a screw and plug the line that you just cut. Now cut the oil line that gose from the oil pump the carb, leave about 2". Use your vacumm cap to plug the brass nipple on the carb, and the 2" stubb left on the cover.

It sould look like this.

You dont have to put wire around the vacumm cap but I did for extra safety

Sorry... I know my camera sucks.....

Hoped this helped!I:I

Ok ill try that.. but i need 2 x vacuum caps right? one for carb and one for the pump ? .. and just a screw for the line that before connected the oil tank. . . .

Its because ill get my new 68mm Wiseco piston tomorrow and a fresh cylinder bore and cleaned the head.. unfortunatly some metal objects where detected in the cylinder which destroyed the piston and made a lot of scratches in the head.. i look like a piece of piston ring, but it look intact on the piston.. so i really dont know what it is.. I guess ill clean it and try again with a fresh bore, piston etc..

But the point is, when im spending a lot of money I really dont want to rely on the automix pump.. I convert to self-mix 32:1 :-)
