Hey Guys I need a little advice on some engine mods. I want to get some more power out of my Blaster so I would like to do a overbore. My machine shop will bore it any diameter i want for 80 bucks. I Need to know what else I need to change as far as the carb or gaskets or even the head if I am to do this. I alos would like to know how big of a bore should i go? I heard people doing .080 which seems extreme. I am on a budget so if i can keep the carb i have and jet it I would perfer to go that route. Thanks for everything in advance! I also currently have a FMF pipe and k&n filter with stock carb settings.

Well first of all. Blaster are one of few you can overbore. I would start out at .25 over. Depending on how much your wanting to spend you might even consider "shaving the head". If you go beyond .35 on shaving the head you need to use a race gas which can be very expensive. If you havn't already, put in a Twin Air or Uni air filter to make it breathe and give it a rejet so you dont run it lean. If you decide to make it a have a big bore kit, you can have what you call a Hemi Head. if you get on Vito's Performance website there is more information. Hope This helps

Thanks for the advice. I have a K&N Air filter in right now with a FMF gold pipe. I wanted to go with a .040 bore and piston. Will i be able to keep the stock carb and jet it for more fuel? Also with my current air and exhaust mod should i be running different jets on my carb?

WHOA Hold up!!! Lets not go throwing good money away so fast. With a blaster, boring the stock sleeve can only gain you a couple of cc's and NO noticeable gain in power. All you will do is shorten the life of your cylinder. The only time you should bore your cylinder is when it becomes damaged. Then you should only bore it to the next size that will get rid of the damage. every time you bore your cylinder is one less time you have left.

With a K&N and a FMF your main jet should probably be somewhere in the neighborhood of a 270, Assuming you have the airbox lid removed.
If you have the stock carb settings with this setup you are almost certainly running a bit on the lean side, which can be a very bad thing. It tends to melt things in the long run, like pistons.

If you are looking for more power, you may consider getting the head milled or re-cut with a better squash band and higher compression. Even better a good port and polish from a reputable builder. There are several on this site who do excellent work. All come highly recommended from the people who have used them. The head mod and a port job are the absolute best bang for you buck on a two stroke.

How much would a mill and port job set me back? I also have seen some mods on ebay like a high comp piston that changes timing degrees of intake and exhaust and a high performance head gasket are these mods worth the money?
