Pistons ?

The major cause of piston skirt failure is wear.
<SNIPPED>

While I agree with everything else you said, I have to disagree with this.
Piston skirt failure comes from overloading the skirt and it could come from wear and increased piston clearance, but I wouldn't say that is the major cause.

These are short rod engines that put a lot of loading on the skirt anyway, and long skirt pistons that do not support the skirt well. The failures we have seen have all been rpm related.

I do not know for sure that Wiseco is the right answer. I have had enough problems with them in my KTM that I refer not to run them in it. Forged pistons tend to be softer, more tend to bend than break, and they also tend to scuff at high loads. Cast pistons are excellent at scuff resistance and keeping their size and shape under high loads. Cast do not handle shock very well, and tend to shatter rather than stay in one gummy piece.

you HAVE TO BUY wiseco,if not your going to blow your engine up for sure the instant you kick it over! Cast pistons are the junkiest things out there and you'll be spending 500$ to rebuild your whole engine! with wisecos you don't have to jet your carb or rebuild the topend ever because the wiseco will last a lifetime! And if by some chance it did break don't worry because the pieces will instanly vaporize and go right out the exhaust port!!!!!!!!!!Yea buddy!!!!!!!!!!

...I'm being sarcastic....

i have a boat load of blasty engines and we do all our own work. i drive my blaster hard, i built it too. alot of sand pits long straights, and deep woods trail runs. i stretch my bike to the limit So i would know what running these engines hard will do. im sorry you dont doo this? not everyone dos not everyone can but the smart people liston to ideits like me that ride hard and learn the harder way, so they dont have to. YES running these blaster the way they were ment to be cast is fine so giver but if your like 75 % of the people that wanna make them faster its a givin.
i should of got a picture of my wisco i pulled out recently, got a couple of years on it and many rpms. lots of wear on it couple of qroves where maybe dirt made through. but that piston held togeather fine ive popped 2 casts in the time of owning one wisco. Yes that means i busted two cases that now need to be repaired. so you can see why i dont recommend cast at all due to the money and troubles ive had. go ahead and run a cast piston and be happy there fine, if you dont ride hard they are perfect but i not gonna recommend one because of my experience not from what someone told me.

lol sarcasum isn't helping people on here at all...... your a tool:p your sarcasum proves that.
1 last time technically yes if you wanna call one of the two piston types junk it would be cast. and those are your words my tool^^^. forged is a stronger piston design, its why they do it. yes cast works mint and in many motocross engines they may be a better choice. but with these blasters its a givin for us. ^^^best pictures show the first piston broke at the intake ports, and the other is cracking along the exhaust side. i got one more cast piston (not in the pic) i should take a pic of to show how bad it can get. its cast and brocken in half on the exhaust side, yes thanx to this the case is busted. aswell as the cylinder is mint and piston sides have little to no wear on them.

What is your problem with me? I only responded like you do trashing a cast piston cast piston. You seem to be upset that I said Namura pistons are aboslutely fine. For some reason you think that a company like Namura make junk pistons or any cast piston is junk,and I'm a tool???? Let's see the boat load of your "blaster engines running and ill show you some of mine young grasshopper

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Poor phrasing on my part.

I will re-phrase..

One of the causes of piston skirt failure is excessive wear.................................

id like to apologize dude, i had a rough night and frustrations this morning made it on here and it shouldnt have. After re-reading my posts i take back the crudeness and the personal attacks. everyone has there own opinion and i was flaunting mine and not respecting yours. i truely enjoy this site for the help and dont wanna be a problem or jeopardize my place in here. i am truly sorry and i will watch to not make such irresponsible remarks again. A lot better and easier to see peoples opinions positively then negativity.
