There is on-going debate (even among professionals) on 2 stroke top end assembly method. Both oiled and DRY are very accepted methods, each with their pros and cons. Do some more research before you mock someone who knows of what he speaks...

I tried it without oil, it was stiff, real stiff, so I oiled it. Had it worked like it should have i would not have needed to oil it, but in this case I did.

damn thats weird.could a ring be getting caught on a port or something?

not if it is close to top dead center. I have had a piston go in a little weiner eyed and had to use some elbo grease to get it out. I am asumming that you have done a top end before. But i like to use a hose clamp to squez the rings in the right position. with some two stroke oil of course. Also make sure that your cycilnder is on straight and not off kilter. Hope too help.

dont forget to dump excess oil over everything so you fill the hone marks on start up like head thinks you should, god it would be nice to be 23 again just like a teenager think you know everything and don't know squat

dude just drop it...................

Ummmmmmmmm.
No offense kid, but you're wrong.
Gonzo may be coming off as an @$$hole, but I bet he's forgotten more about engine building than you have yet learned.
There are many, MANY times a tech in the field TEACHES an engineer how things happen in the real world.
Fact.
Sack up and learn. I personally oiled my build. But his points have merit.
