Ok guys this may be a stupid question but figured I'd ask. My blaster needs a new piston and my cylinder does not need to be bored. Can I use any 66mm piston or do I have to use one sqecific to a blaster?

You will need to check ring gap as well.. Measure your cylinder in a few spots with a bore gauge..

Just wondering why you would need to check the ring gaps, if the bore is within spec, an a new piston an rings is new, there shouldn't be a issue, its not like these piston kits are sold with file fit rings

I have only once put a new piston in an old hole. It was less than half the wear specks (not Blaster). Piston/rings + gaskets, a fresh bore won't add that much more % wise.

No matter what, ALWAYS check ring gap. Of the last 6 sets of rings (4 pistons) I only filed 1 ring (Weiscos), others may be different (brand wise)

It is not a good idea to get a forged piston and slip it into a used bore.

Forged pistons require different tolerances than cast pistons owing to their heating properties.

The builder should have the forged piston in hand so that the bore can be machined the the forged piston tolerances.

I know that everybody is going to tell you to use a wiseco forged piston, however I'm a big fan of CAST PISTONS! OEM (factory stock) pistons are cast, and will serve you well. Your choice, ...however its my opinion that a cast piston will last a long ,LONG,LONG time. All the issues I've ever had, were with forged pistons. Cast pistons have served me well with zero issues.
