my experience with 2 strokes are chainsaws that run 12- 15,000 rpm
and i have always lightened the pistons can the pistons in the blaster benefit from this or will it make it too weak from what i see i could take about an ounce off witch in a rotating mass like this would make alot of difference
any one done this

i think wiseco made a piston that was lighter than the pro lighe because i rember someone on here selling one on here a while back

so it dose cross over i wasnt sure if it would i will be starting soon on my project blaster it has the vitos 240 but the ring snagged and tore it up
the head is in need of some work and the piston is trashed i will post pics when i get home Monday maybe start a build thread
it also has a hot rod crank and rod im hoping its a +4 but dont know cant see in the case to see if its trenched i bought it this way so i have no clue what is in it

Unless you are going to strickly drag race I wouldn't, as a Blaster will never reach those speeds. Don't know if even with a drag pipe if it would see more than 10,000rpm.

Reliability and longevity might be more important than peak power.

Max rpm is dependent on pipe and engine design (unit size). The size of a Blaster engine is about 4x that of a chain saw.
Also why a RC can spin 20,000+ as it has no piston rings.

i mentioned the chainsaws rpm so you could see where my thoughts come from on the mods i do
i know that a blaster motor wont pull those rpms safely but if you lighten the rotating mass you will have more power since it takes less power to turn the engine it also makes the engine more snappy. this is why we all like 2 strokes there rotating mass is alot lighter then a 4 poke hence there faster!

Having read both Gorden Jennings and H. Grahm Bell cover to cover several times I don't recall mention of lightening pistons.

This is only thing relative I found : banshee piston mods

Even on BHQ where it's nothing to build a 10K engine is there mention of lightening pistons.

risk vs. reward isn't good enough. You will never know if you didn't remove enough, only if to much or done WRONG

And now the rest of the story : Let me google that for you Enjoy!!!

ok so not worth it in the end unless its a full on drag bike got ya
i will say a half ounce off a 80 cc piston makes the difference of almost a second
in the cut with a chainsaw thats why i was wondering if it would work that way on a blaster yes i searched Google before i asked
