physical motor question

what are these cases made out of? i need mine welded but the question keeps coming up. someone had even mentioned it being magnesium, which i know couldnt possibly be true. ims ure they make one, but were talking stock

i believe that they are aluminum and FTZ can fix them. also most machine shops/welders should be able to figure it out.

The cases are made of aluminum.
They are also tempered so have and experienced welder do the work.
Lots of bikes do in fact have magnesium side covers.
My YZ400 motor has mag side covers.

put anykind of acid on it and it will turn black if it is magnessumon u only need a dab to check

it's aluminum most shops can weld it but request tig welding and number 4014 rod which is stronger aluminum rod.
