painting the frame

If your using a can rust oleum , sandblasting is your best bet followed by a coat of rust oleum etching primer than scotch brite it( or very very high grit sanding) then 2 lites coats of paint and 1 kinda heavy (not to much) and some clear, and she should look amazing! It's all about the prep Work! DO NOT RUSH, take your time and don't get the can to close the frame! Good luck! And happy painted (or I like to call it "sexifying") I:I

spray is the only only way IMO, sandblast it, but remember to either take out or tape up the steering bush and bearings in the swingarm and a-arms.

Do a etch primer, 2x coats, then if you go base coat followed by clear coat in the case of metallic paint, (not recommended) only one coat of base coat is needed.

I prefer to use a 2K (epoxy style) silver paint, mix in hardener at 2 parts paint to 1 part harderner then use 2K thinners to correct consistency.

Whatever paint you choose, sufrace preparation is of most importance

It is very important to let the coats to dry fully then abrade with Scotch Brite or wet and dry paper, to make a key for the next coat to adhere to.

Contrary to public belief, the least amount of paint you use is best. Get the colour constant and then rub back, one good coat of clear is fine.

The less paint you add the less chipping will occur.
