oversquare

thinking about making my engine oversquare. i have a prostock piston in it and its pretty quick but id like to go to like maybe a .060 or maybe .080 over namura or wiseco. has anyone on the forum made an oversquare blaster?

will the stock crank and w/ new crank and needle bearings hold up to this abuse? or should i just buy a perf crank?

you'll get virtually nothing but wasted bores going with a bigger piston...


and by definition the blaster motor is already way out of square

i beleive he thinks overboring will get the stroke and bore closer to the same size
making it "square"
dont do it, it still wont even be close, and any gains will hardly be noticeable

true that.. thanx anyone know the ratio of bore to stroke? and the over square term is from buildin 400 sb's for an 1/8th mile car sorry for the lack of lingo

2 strokes are generaly oversquare because of the required width of the ports in order to get the volume of air necessary in to produce the power they do.

A narrow bore and long stroke would require extremely tall ports which would raise the chance of catching a port versus a short wide port where the piston skips over the top of it. It's in the engine designers best interest to make it short and fat!

The top speed of the blaster engine isn't limited by stroke vs bore. It's limited by heat rejection.
