Over Revving

Hey guys, I have a 2001 Blaster, I recently had a mechanic redo the top end and install a new carb. It runs perfectly. However, when I'm at idle, and I rev it beyond I'd say 70% throttle, it seems to get stuck in constant revving. It'll just stay at high rpms. Throttle cable does not seem to be sticking either. I can also continue to rev it while it's stuck in this mode. Putting down the choke will lower the rpms as long as I catch it before it shuts off, and it'll continue running normal after until I give it gas again. Does the carb need to be adjusted? Or do I have a leak somewhere? How would I find this out? Thanks in advance.

To be honest with you, I don't even know what a slide is and how I would know if it is in the right way. As I said, I didn't install it unfortunately. How would I go about checking that? Thanks

when you look at the carb, the top unscrews and there's a slide inside, there's a groove in one side that needs to line up with a pin inside the carb. the other possibility is an air leak, make sure that the base nuts and head nuts are all tight, and the intake bolts are tight

Will check first thing in the morning. Would an airleak cause this problem to also occur when I'm riding? I haven't had a chance to take it up to full speed, but I rode it a bit and it didn't seem to get "stuck." As I also mentioned, it returns to normal when I play with the choke. Could it be a carb that just needs to be adjusted? I'll report back tomorrow though, thanks man.
