get yourself a pair of used banshee front shocks and a 400ex rear shock. the fronts will bolt right up and the rear takes a very small bit of work to get it mounted. there are "how to's" on here to mount the rear shock. that will benefit you the most with your weight. the +4 swingarm is a nice upgrade as well. you can get them pre built on ebay for around $300 or talk to Fowlrock on here and maybe you can work out somethign for him to extend your arm. mail it to him and he can extend it for a fair price.

i was actually wondering about the shock conversions earlier today lol that is definatly on the to do list, right after:

+4 swingarm from swingarmshop on ebay $230 shipped
+2/+4 adjustable G-Force axle $188 shipped
and either a diamond j's widening kit or some wheel spacers for the front

i haven't heard any complaints about the diamond j kit on this site. BUT, over on exriders.com there are a couple of suspension guru's that are strongly advising against it and give many examples on as to why. with this being said, these "experts" have never personally used or tried the kit. so who to believe? the everyday guys who have tried it or the racers and mechanics that haven't.

well add some more stuff to the list..... just ordered:
vito's high performance clutch kit
clutch cover gasket
vito's 1/2" reed spacer (to go with the carbon flex reeds:-D)
dynojet carb jet kit

i should be one happy camper next week when all this stuff arrives with the others. so far the chain and break cables made it and were put on.

ordering some front break pads and a clutch cable in the next day or so, most of the first batch of parts i ordered came today. hoping to have the clutch and reed spacers i just ordered last night by this weekend so me and my buddy can get it all put togather. ill be sure to post pics when its done.

did you order a brand new chain? if so did you change your sprockets along with it?

if not, the old worn sprockets will cause the lifespan of that new chain to be drastically shorter. even if the sprockets dont look worn out, they must wear together or it can cause future problems like broken sprocket teeth or a snapped chain.

if you bought a used chain its even worse since that chain is worn to match a diffrent set of worn sprockets. failure rate is really high on mismatched sets like that.

no i didnt. didnt think of that only got the front sprocket and bought a new cheap chain off a forum member for $20. i will be buying a new red chain soon and when i do ill be sure to replace the rear sprocket with it, probably get the whole kit.

hoping to also be able to get a vito's 240 kit and +4 swing arm within the next 2 weeks or so.

lol im thinking of riding it like it is for another couple weeks then throwign everything on at once just to see how much all the extra money i've dumped into it has helped. besides everyone i see are riding raptor 660r's lol so i've been embarrassed to try to ride with them lol i dont want to be the guy that everyone forgets to call when its time to ride cuz he's always 3 miles back=))

when on the trails, the blaster will hang with them. experience determines your ability to keep up your speed, not the quad. in many cases on the trails, your blaster will out preform raptors due to its size. my 400ex is much faster and more powerful than my blaster. its also much larger. my 14 year old is right on my ass all the time when we're out riding as long as were not in a flat stright area. power means nothing on the trails and everything on the strights.

havent gotten any of the parts on it yet due to lack of time and waiting for everything to come.
still waiting on:
5" rear wheel spacers
red nose and tank cover
black fly handlebars
a arm bushings
motion pro (?) clutch cable

if these dont arrive soon i may wait because by this weekend i should have the cash to order:
vito's 240cc head and cylinder kit
G-force adjustable +2-+4 axle
+4 swingarm from swingarmshop on ebay.
red oring chain with front and rear sprocckets not sure what sizes ill order tho.

i dropped off the blaster at my buddies house last night for him to look over better before we put parts on. when i went over while in the area today he mentioned he tweaked a couple settings on it and took me to a nearby field to ride a minute. it seems to have twice the balls now. he also had me hit a small jump there and practice riding wheelies. after today im wondering if ill even be able to handle it after putting everything i already ordered on along with the 240 kit im about to order.... maybe it'll just take a couple rides to get used to?

even tho im 23 and he isnt much older before i left he told me he wont help me put any other performance parts on besides what i already ordered untill i buy a helmet. he also said that he's pretty confident that it will keep up to if not pass his yz250 with aftermarket rear sprocket and pipe

this thing is going to be pretty sweet when i get all this stuff and the stuff i listed above that im about to order bolted on. after i get the things listed above the only things i need will be:
banshee/400ex shocks
plastics
shorter clutch lever
new light/kill switch
handlebar spacer or longer stem

now for todays question

when i add the +4 axle and +4 swingarm will i need longer brake cables or a special chain?

i was planning to get one of THESE chains.

nooooo swingarm shop = garbage. dont go with them.

i hear mixed reviews with them. some are super pleased others are pissed. saw a post about a guy and his buddy that had a big headache with them

care to recomend a similar priced +4 swing arm thats buit better?

how is swingarm shop garbage? mine has held up great. plus they will replace it if it breaks. idk of anyone else that has swingarms at this price. i guess 01blasterdude could make you one, but you will have to wait for shipping both ways.

if i were you the next thing i would look in to besides a helmet and gloves would be rear tires. the ones in the pic are actually causing you to lose low end grunt because they are so tall. the stock sizes of 21 inch tires is too big for these things. drop down to a flat profile 20 inch or even go as low as an 18 inch rear tire if your riding conditions will allow it. get the tires paired with a 14 tooth front sprocket and you will be suprised at the new found feel of the motor. smaller diameter tires are probably one of the most cost effective performance mods you can do to a blaster. then the 14 tooth front sprocker makes 1st gear a little more usable.

20x11x9 is my favorite tire size. it gives me plenty of ground clearance along with a better feel of the powerband and 1st gear feels like it shouls when paired with a 14tooth sprocket. if you go with somethign like holeshot or kenda klaw tires you will also have less bounce on the rear end. the stockers and other types of balloon tires make it feel akward in the rear end on rough terrain.

i was planning to upgrade to a itp wheel/tire combo like THIS ONE when i finish tearing these ones up doing the stupid stuff i do now like riding on pavement and burning donuts and stuff. its gonna cost me about $450 so i figure i better get all my stupidity out on these stock tires and rims so its out of my system and i can take care of the good ones when i get them

on a side note when using search features of ebay what keywords do you think would be best when looking for tires and rims for the blaster? i've tried every combo of yamaha, blaster, wheels, tires, rims that i could think of but not much is showing up.

i been trying to find a good combo set to save in my ebay because i use that like a wanted list and buy as i get cash.

rockymountainatv has the best prices on wheel and tire combos that i have found. thats where i bought mine from this last time and they came ready to bolt on. your blaster bolt pattern is 4x100. i would recomend goign up to a 9 inch wheel when you do upgrade. there are TONS more 9 inch tires available than there are 8 inch. the market keeps up with all the latest models and the new models all run 9 inch rear wheels. plus the bigger wheels make it look a little better proportionally to the tire.
