Does anyone want to buy a 300 pound paper weight? So I finally got the air box straighten out and meet up with Frank (stinkinlincolnw/blaster) for somee riding finally. Never got to ride it yet. Almost got to enjoy a full tanks worth of gas riding intill my motor locked up. Heres some pictures of the motor apart. The lower connecting rod bearing locked up. You can see in the photos the discoloration on the lower rod around the bearing. What caused that bearing to lock up? The rings, piston and cylinder look okay. When I first got her I did a comp test it had 135. So I'm guessing my top end is basically okay. Also you cann't rotate the motor fully since the connecting rod is stuck in that postion, but the little I can the crank bearing feels fine and spins freely.

Also the photos arent perfect but the spark plug color is dry black light grey with alittle tan like a waffle but not all around tan. I am running a 270 main a 30 pilot and the clip in the middle.

Lack of lubrication most likely. Do you have the oil block off kit? If so, what premix ratio are you running? That's not a terribly expensive repair if you do the work yourself. A new 3mil crank will run around $175

Thats what I thought, but shouldn't the wrist pin be tight are the rings and cylinder screwed up too? Could this have anything to do with the bike being stored outside in the weather for a year without it being ran are stored right? Cause thats how the previuse owner did.

I do have the vitos block of kit installed and was mixing for 32:1 using 93 gas and yamalube, using the measure cup everyone likes. So I dont think I made a mistake with the mix.

dude that sucks. Right after you get the air box problem fixed this happens. What you really shoudl do is send your engine to Brandon^^^^ and have him build it for you!!! :)

im a firm believer in blocking off the poorly designed injection system on a blster and running premium fuel on Klotz supertechnplate at 32-1 ..im also a firm beliver that some premix oils really suck like amsoil products for instance

Did you rejet for the airbox? It seems u were running lean I have a 300 main in my bike, what mods do you have?

^^ i was about to say that. man if you didnt rejet for the extra air then that was the root cause. sucks man. rebuild her. blasters can never be paper weights!

^^ What he said. It had a 240 in it when I got it with the clip on the second notch on the lean side. I put vforce3 reeds and the airbox kit on it. Went to 270 and moved the clip in the middle. I have a feeling I screwed up and should have gone with the main around 290. I heard from a few people that they where running around a 270 fine with the same mods. My spark plug wasn't white but it wasn't a really nice waffle color either. We pulled Franks and it was a perfect waffle color, where mine was dry black slightly grey. I'm talking to motor builders as we speak, to see what I should do. Since I wanted to get a port job anyways now I'll just get some adding things put on the list.

now would be a good time to add a stroker crank and get the cylinder ported. Good luck with the rebuild

That's the one thing that I'm getting for sure. Figured its only going to cost me a little more then replacing a factory crank. For anyone that interested in knowing these are the two ways I was thinking of going. As for as builders I feel very confident with either FloTek or WildCard2 doing the work. I have been talking to both and both have been vey helpfull and knowledgeable.

1)
Vito's Big bore kit (with Forged piston, not cast)
Vito's 3mm stroker crank
Port job
Carb and cable
advance timing

2)
Overhaul factory cylinder and head
Port job
Vito's 3mm stroker crank
Carb and cable
advance timing

Not sure about exhaust and already have vforce3 reeds and cfm airbox with k&n air filter.

Ideas or suggestions?

Either of those two builds will do you good. Just depends on if you like the 240 kit all that much or if you want the 240 kit. I would go with the Vitos fat bastard as well! Seems to be a good pipe. I dont know why more people arnt running them on this site. Its probably because they are too busy bashing FMF and taking up their Dyno Ports.

Just edited exhaust, Hearing different things so I'm up on the fence about it now.

I have a dyno port and I like it. Its also a better pipe then an fmf, not trying to bash fmf but I've owned both and dyno port blows it away
