My son has had a 1991 Blaster stuck in moth balls for a few years. We ran it when we got it, he ran it a couple years and pretty much pushed it in the corner for a while.
Well he got the itch again and he drug it out, gave it a good washing and now we begin.
The clutch cable was froze so we ordered new and got past that. Put fresh go juice in and she fired up. Ahh no brakes, at all. No suprize as they never worked well. We took apart the rear caliper and reset things and now we have some stopping ability. Seems like there is some sputtering but we haven't run it for more than 20 minutes total yet.
Now some research into brake systems. It seems hydraulic is the way to go but we are really "bolt on" guys. If things get ugly we will get the work done with help so we are open minded about fixes for this shortcoming. Front brakes are, well kinda sticky if present. we are wondering if some cleaning and cables are all that is needed or is there another skeleton in the bankroll closet?
Some kick start issues. Sometimes it grabs and sometimes your kicking air. We didn't see much on that in reading so far so any thoughts?
As we were reading through the forum it seems like some helpful people stop by so we will be happy to take any suggestions. He is looking for a ride to do general purpose riding. No racing other than checking his machine against a buddy's, lol. Oh yeah, the injection unit was dissabled when we bought it so we have that out of our hair. Other than that she is bone stock.
Soooooo, let us know what you think. we would like to hear from you. Suggestions for upgrades or sources would be great!
We'll update our intro as disasters present themselves!
