as for oil. I stick to Motul 710 full synthetic. mixed 32:1
As for bad idle, make sure you seal up the reed cage with a RTV silicone these motors are prone to pulling air there. Sounds like a simple carb issue, it could however be anything from a shot base or head gasket, crank seals etc. Have yu done a leak test?
