i think i found my oil leak.it looks like it coming from the shifter rod the goes in the engine.is it common for it to leak there?

i think he meant to say "is it common to find a leak there" i would say yes because i have a leak in the same damn spot, my shift shaft is bent..
I think you are saying that is where your oil leak is coming from. Either the shift shaft is bent or the seal is bad, or both.
Nope pull the clutch cover and pull out the shift shaft. It's an easy fix. You may have to pull the clutch, I can't remember right off the top of my head.
yea but in order to replace it dont you need to split the cases because of the actually gearing placement and whatnot. something tells me it isnt just pop it out slide a new one in type job.
Trust me you don't have to split it to fix it. If you want I have one in the garage right now with the clutch cover off and I can go take some pics really quick so you can see what I mean. It just pulls out. put in a new seal and slide the new shaft back in. Easy as that.
Remove the clutch basket.
Pull shift shaft out.
Replace seal.
Put in new shift shaft.
Reassemble.
If it is bent bad on the end it may come out hard but just pull it.

sh*t im gonna buy a new shift shaft then all this time ive been hackin away trying to get the cases apart just for that reason and i dont even need too lol
once i dont have a 102.2 degree fever im gonna try and do that and if this is true you sir will be getting lots of rep from me lol
