guys, I have a guy in town that can take plastic parts and mold them and can make metal replicas of them. I was wondering if taking the plastic gear that drives the oil injection pump and have it so it can be made metal. I dont have the pump anymore, but would like to know if anybody has done anything like this and would also like to know if its a good idea to the people who hate premixing gas (most of us).

Ok I'm not trying to be an ass here ( I know I'm in a bad mood ) but WHY do people hate pre mixing? Its no big deal, put some oil in the gas shake it. Done. AND you always have a safe constant mix of gas/oil, were with a injector you don't.

Sure riding up to the gas station is cool, and to see the looks on people's face....

But really premix and forget about it..

/end Rant

No offense taken at all. I do like just like throwing gas in the tank but i know what you mean by its always a safe mix.... Your engine runs better on the injector, at least til' it fails.

Nope dont even last longer.

sorry

injector sucks

Your pumping more oil in, I ran 50:1, 1 month later my engine has low compression. I ran 32:1 in my yz125 (2 years ago) and it lasted 3 race seasons. Since the pump mixes at 20:1, why would it suck even more? Not being a hardass or anything, just asking why you think injector sucks.

I'm guessing that there may be some changes to the later models. My '06 had the oil pump right on the end of the crank, under the front cover on the right side of the motor. I didn't have to drain any oil, break any seals etc. Just 3 screws to take of the front cover, 2 screws to take of the pump, the gear just popped off after taking the 4 little screws out of pump cover, and here's the shocker...the gear on mine is METAL! I took it off anyway and blocked it all off because I just don't trust that stuff, but mine is for sure not like all you describe.

HERE

Maybe you need to find one from an 06+?

I disagree with everyone here. My blaster has been running with the oil injection since 2004 when bought new. Never had a problem with it and we ride on roads, so ALOT of WOT and NEVER had a rebuild, still on stock piston/rings/bore and running strong. Take care of your sh*t, jet it right and it will take care of you. I will still keep the injection till it fails on me or mdos to the engine make me do so.

well, removing the oil pump is not for everyone.. If youve played with your motor enough to need the extra lubrication, then its worth it.. It is quite primitive though.

Most oil injection systems have another cable that goes to the throttle, so when you open the throttle it injects more oil.. this one is heavy on the oil when ur going with high revs, and low throttle, and light on oil when your going with low revs and wide open throttle.. But it works the way it is, unless you got itchy hands and are lookin for something to change.. but lubrication is more consistent with premix

there are benefits, the pump and gear will draw a small amount of power... and once your done with your pump, you can use some of the thicker two stroke oils that may not work so well in an injection system..

I have a family member who has a blaster, and doesnt want to bypass the oil injection system, even though Ive told him that plastic gear does fail.

SO there isnt a replacement better gear available? His is like a 94 and its never been replaced. But I know sometime its gonna go.

hey guys im just got my 02 blaster and the injection works great nice blue smoke my dealer said its an 02 the pumps got alot of years to go he said it should be fine what do you guys think let me know thanks!
