Hey guys,i replaced my crank seals. My blaster is using trans oil again.I think I have a crack in engine case.Wher is a common place for cracking?I'm in the process of buiding leak down tester.

check all the normal places...by bolts, along the case sides, where any seals are is going to help your narrow your search also...

The collar to crank can sometimes leak. It's not supposed to if the crank nut is torqued properly but sometimes that collar gets a knick in it and can still leak even at the proper torque.

A leak tester should tell you exactly where your problem is.

The collar.Do you mean the area around the crank seal. Also not sure I properly torqed the crank nut.

On the clutch side seal, the seal is MUCH larger than the crankshaft. There is a cylindrical collar that slides over the crank, inside the seal. The two drive gears on the end of the crank slide on top of the collar and the whole assembly is torqued down with the drive gear nut.

If the collar isn't perfectly smooth where it sits on the crankshaft, it can leak transmission fluid by the collar. You scratch you head and curse that engine up on eisde and down the other because you'll put clutch side seals in one right behind the other and "they all just keep leaking!" but if the collar is what's leaking, putting clutch side crank seals in it one right behind the other won't stop the transmission fluid from burning.

You also have to torque that nut down properly... Stick a penny between the drive gears and throw the torque to that nut. If you don't torque it down right it will work the nut loose because the primary drive gear and clutch ring gear are cross cut and the twisting motion of the gears meshing will cause the nut to unscrew and eventually the gear to shoot up into the back of the clutch ring gear tearing the gear all to pieces, putting metal shavings in your transmission fluid, and making a horrible grinding noise.

okay I did a leakdown test and found leak in intake.I sealed that up and retested it held 7psi and didn't drop at all in 1/2 hour.So removed head pipe stood atv on front bumper with piston at top.No fluid came out.Still have white smoke with a bit of blue in it.I know it's bored out, not sure how much.I'm running a fmf fatty with stock silencer/36 mm pwk.I think my carb is to big.It runs lean. But don't know why it smokes so much.If I measure cylinder bore what would be considered a big bore? The guy I bought it from said it had a bbk in it.

maybe you shouldn't use trans oil.. it might be to thin. get the right stuff from yamaha. Get the stuff made from yamaha .
