Hi, I'm new to the forum. I just got a 1994 blaster in pretty rough shape.Seems like the previous owner took off the oil pump, so now I'm using pre mix gas. I'm trying to fix one thing at a time. Now, do you guys know what kind of carburetor is from factory? jets? I got a pro circuit slip-on pretty cheap and a conical air filter, so I guess new jets are the next order, any idea which number to run? And also I realize that when you go with the throttle wide open let's say in 3rd gear and up the engine bogs down a little, then you release the gas and go again and accelerates normal. Jets, maybe? So far I want it to run smooth. Thanks, any help will be very useful.

It's a 26mm Mikuni, I don't know the model (vm?). I believe the stock main is a 230. I've heard of guys running anywhere from a 260 to a 310, depending upon mods. Any decent shop should have a selection of Mikuni round jets. If you are gonna run a pipe and filter with no lid, figure on bumping up to at least the 260, like yesterday. There are some good carb tuning guides in the engine section as stickies. Even though they are about Keihins, the theory of operation is the same. The last thing you want to do at this point is seize a perfectly good motor cuz you were running lean.

As far as your top end bog, yeah that is prob a lean bog, so stop doing that until you get a fatter jet in there. I doubt you need to worry about the pilot jet at this time.
