I'm looking at the service repair manual under the transmission assembly section (pg. 99) and it says:

while installing the trans axle into the crank case, pay careful attention to the oil seal lip, A recommended practice is to fit the O-ring and apply grease to the fitted area

I just got a complete gasket kit and it doesn't have this O-ring, and I don't even see it in the parts microfiche

Thats the thing, It doesnt come with the ring in the gasket kit, and theres no way to even order it cause its not on the microfiche.

go to the shop and ask them if they have the output shaft seal. and look at it it should have the seal AND the O-ring in it.

The Oring doesn't come with te kit because it isn't part of the kit, it should say "fit an Oring" not "fit the Oring", all they are saying is that it fills up the grove in the shaft so that the seal lip wont get cut on the sharp edge as you slide it thrue the seal, I just use LOTS! of THICK! grease and be careful.

thanks for clarifying man, I had a feeling that is what it was for but I needed to be sure. Ill give you a rep point for that! I:I
