2001 Blaster, TORS removed, K&N Air filter, NGK plug gapped correctly. Only a few hours on the new cylinder and piston, ran great last few rides.

Went riding monday and the quad ran ok except when I came to a stop the blaster would stall. Yes, I had the clutch pulled and and tried adjusting the idle screw and idle air screw and it didnt help. Still stalled when I wasnt on the throttle.

On tuesday when we went to go riding it wouldnt start at first then when we got it to start it would bog BAD at WOT then eventually die. We cleaned the air filter (very dirty) and tried a plug from another running blaster. Still no luck. We took apart the carb and cleaned it, fresh gas, cleaned plug, had spark and plug was wet with gas. Now im looking at compression (no compression tester available). Seems fine, kick starter is hard to move like it has good compression. Reeds are intact and clean. Any ideas are appreciated. Im stumped.

Hey, my buddies bike did the EXACT same thing. The bike would only start if you pushed it with my blaster. Compression was too low, so it was rebuilt

We literally have like 3 rides on the new rebuild. Im hoping its not needed another one or im going to biotch and get it a bore and hone with a new piston for free. That was a sh*tty hone job if its blown up already.

im thinking lower rod bearing, same thing all of mine have done when the lower bearing blew.. i bet theres no needles in the bearing when you tear it down.. and they probably made there way to the cylinder and scraped it up

yeah, taking the head/cylinder off you will be able to tell it will probably be hard to crank over and have up/down play being very stiff... i have one in the garage needing the same thing and i to just rebuilt the top end.. sh*tty luck i guess

did you break it in properly? if not then u cant biotch anyone out but yourself. do a compression test.

Quad is fully warmed up before every ride. Throttle stop was at 1/2 for the first two rides (4-5 hours) and is now at 3/4. So it hasnt even seen full throttle yet. Amsoil interceptor 40:1. Just a bad lower bearing.
