anyone know why my blaster occasionally loses all power and barely runs.. starts just fine, but wont rev up... seems to work fine after cooling down. friend has same problem with his blaster too..other riders in the area referred to this as "all loaded up"..

has toomey B1 pipe, fmf powercore silencer, bored 30 over, KnN filter.. runs great when not "loaded"... using 93 octane mixed to 32:1

Sounds like you've got a sticking float or damaged needle in the carburetor, causing the engine to flood out on occasion. Take the carburetor apart and clean it out thoroughly, and it may solve your problem. Make sure there's a 310 main jet in the carb while you're in there.

Also, is your TORS system still hooked up? If it is, get rid of it. Read up here on how to do it, since the problem could be electrical rather than fuel related.

actually i didnt mention it but last week this happened to my friends blaster.. i towed him out of the woods about a mile thru some serious ruts the big trucks made and after getting him to the street i headed out to get a truck to go back n pick him up. after another 1/2 mile or so the engine blew and i lost all compression. after taking apart the top end i discovered the piston had melted. i sent it out and had it bored to 40 over and ported and am awaiting its return. while apart i got a chance to look at the reeds and they looked ok to me.. btw.. what is the tors?

If it melted like that it meant you were probably running lean. Did you rejet after the toomey and filter? Maybe an airleak? Compression test will tell all.

had the toomey on it when i got it with a uni filter.. changed to KnN with outerwears.. didnt rejet.. but put a good load on it while towing with no real speed. uphill alot

i would make sure it is jetted properly and has no air leak. Overworking and running lean can lead to a melt down.
