got a 2000 blaster. it was bored 30 over. in the beginning had problems starting and it would flood. fixed that. it was the ignition coil. decided to clean the carb and it was dirty. they had the overflow blocked off. and a top hose blocked off. i wanted it to be right. i took the block off and fuel spilled out. now it did run blocked, just didn't seem right so i adjusted the float. no overflowing but no start. spent hours adjusting float back in forth only to get overflow or no overflow and no start.. float not overflowing it wont start. i put gas in intake directly , fires right up running high and sounding great until gone. it will not suck fuel unless overflowing. thats how i got not realizing thats how they had it running. am i wrong and they had it right? i cleaned the carb thoroughly and rebuilt. still wont suck gas, yes gas is on.i am lost and frustrated. carb seems simple. also wont start even if i give it throttle will trying to start. help please. doesn't make since to me at all. also there is a bronze skinny tube running to bottom of b owl. is that supposed to suck gas. i can't blow air thru that tube.

i had a problem similar to that where it would overflow and flood out the engine and all. i fixed it by cleaning the little valve connected to the floats and also the floats were getting stuck because of dirt buildup. dont quote me on it but i think that tube is for the over flow hose but im not completely sure. it may be for draining it too. my best advice would be check that the float valve accually works and maybe buy a rebuild kit for the carb.

i think that tube is where the jet needle goes in, that needs to be completely clear for it to run, as for not starting what size pilot jet is in it? and what mods are done to it?

first off is this motor air tight ??? leakdown test, you may be needing to flood it to make up for an airleak at the base, head or intake gaskets, or crank seals, case halves,
it must be leak tested before troubleshooting it
that tube to the bottom of the bowl is the overflow, and should not be blocked, sounds like a float valve problem
is the spring on the float valve actually around the tang, as it should be, sounds like it is off and under the flaot tang ????
float height is 20 - 21.5 mm
measured like this.............
