hello all. as i mentioned last week, i scored an 03 blaster. well, i got to ride it yesterday on my friends track. i am/was so excited about it i wanted to tell yall. first thing i noticed is that the blaster fits my 5'6" frame quite nicely. controls are all right where i would want them, with the exception of the shifter. i need to raise it about three inches so i can get my no fear "trophee" boots btwn it and the nerfs. wow! this quad starts easily! my 4 stroke 06' klx300r was a nightmare to kick over. on to riding...
steering isnt as twitchy as i would have imagined on a quad so light. feels comfortable going down a tarmac road. high speed cornering on tarmac, however, was a bit sketchy. i def need to learn proper body positioning. upon entering the track/trail complex, i immediately noticed how sub par the suspension was at high speed over uneven terrain (i weigh 185lbs
). not a prob tho, cuz that just means i get to learn about suspension geometry and set it up for my riding style. this bike jumps effortlessly, but the aforementioned suspension sure makes landing an adventure. power delivery on my blaster was quite good for a beginner who thinks he's a racer lol. no qualms with the power. its plenty to get hurt on. tail sliding, what a joy. i spent more time countersteering thru corners while giggling than i did anything else. brakes are pretty decent. the front discs arent as substantial as i would have imagined, but that big rear disc really brings the bike to a stop, or a controlled slide teehee!
now, i would like to say thanks for allowing me into ur community, and please bear with me as i proceed to ask the stupidest questions imaginable. anybody who would like to add to this thread with ur first experiences is def encouraged to do so! i would love to hear about it!
