new reeds?

just rebuilt motor..it starts and runs for maybe 5 or 10 seconds then starts to load up and foul the plug. its got a 280 main with my pipe and no airbox lid. could it be the reeds making it flood out and foul the plug? o and i know the piston and rings are in correctly 100%

if its doing it at idle, its going to have nothing to do with the main, but rather the pilot and the airscrew


where is the airscrew set at and is it the stock pilot?

oo..so it wouildnt do it if the reeds were bad? to be completly honest...i have no clue what pilot is in it

what about how the air screw is set? did you check the reeds when you had it all apart?

the main jet was stock when i got it and he had a pipe so ima figure the pilot is stock?

they are two stage boysen and like the second stage part had nice gaps in it..so could that do it???

Brando is right, unless it is loading up as you rev it. 280 is big but not THAT big. Could be ignition related, too. Did you recently make any changes to it? TORS removal or something like that?

yes, there should be no gaps. you can try flipping the reeds over to see if they seal back up

maybe. Try flipping them over and not over-tightening the screws. Use loctite tho.

hm. well if you guys think that can cause my problems ill prolly just pick up a new set from the stealership. what do u guys think of the dual stage?

well i took em out and flipped them. they are pretty closed now. coulkd a bad seal cause me to foul plugs too?
