Most things do not swap between those years, but, by the pictures this one looks to be 84+. The pre-83 group either had 4 headlights, or two rectangle ones. (unless changed, which i doubt anyone would only change grill/lights)

Here is a current picture of the car -- Anyone know why the german auto-makers decided to caulk the whole thing together? Theres bolts, spot welds, and covered in caulking.

thats one of the most common swaps known to dubs...get rid of the square headlights/grill for the euro version round ones !

and that calking is the reason they don't rust away like others, my 90 gli was about 12 years old when i sold it, and the whole underneath of the car was coated with that thick green caulking/undercoating and still looked brand new

Well i guess that would work good... But any thing not covered in glue that's covered by another piece of metal is going to rust...

So heres a little update...

To straighten the frame, the machine costs $70 an hour, the guy figures 10-15 hours on it too...
The only way to fix the "inner fender" is to buy a different car and chop off its front end...
My dad figures i will have about 2k in this when all said and done, so he was looking on CL and thinks i should just get a whole different car... Same car, just already fixed and use the smashed one for parts...

So if anyone can find a front-clip for a 1987 vw cabriolet, send me a link please... Otherwise i may just have to get a whole nother car... Which will cost about the same as all the repairs... We should have done some homework before we bought it i guess... :(

Sold this about two weeks ago

Sold for $1200 and the trailer went with it, but our grandpa gave that to us and we have wanted a bigger one since I:I
