Hi guys, im totally new to the forum, but am slowly figuring it out. Anyways, i bought a 02 blaster yesterday for $500. It does run, but needs a lil work. I have driven it around the cul-de-sac for a test spin. It will start and run, but bogs down without the choke being on. Carb problem? This is my first project bike, leave any info reguarding things i should look into and ask questions. Thanks!!!

i think that means you need a carb cleaning but not for sure on that
EDIT: i see you have flipped the front wheels for a wider stance already, nice!!
 
Welcome , first order of business would be to pull your carb and figure out your jetting numbers , Figure out what mods you have and what you should be close to on jetting and research plug chops and also Leak down tests , Best advice is to read !
 
Flipped the wheels? When the guy first started the bike he had the air intake hose pulled off the carb? The only thing ive done to it since is clean and reattach the hose.
 
Ya, ive been reading around i plan on doing the carb possibly tomorrow night. Is it a long or hard process? Also just for future help would you recommend i buy a owners manual?

check the jetting before you ride it. a leak down to if you really wann be safe, and get some front fenders if you ride a lot of mud and dont wanna get muddy. i have no fronts but i ride alot of sand dunes
edit: get a clymers manual forsure!! and cleaning the carb is a breeze just read up on it before you do it
 
Ive got the front fenders but i still need to paint them to match what the other guy already did. What is a leak down test and how is it done? Thanks for the quick responses
 
Sweet, thanks. Once i get the thing running, i plan on maybe boring it out. I do a lot of trail riding, but also a lot of riding around the farm really fast/stunting. I was wondering what list of mods you guys would recommend doing. Keep in mind i have about a $500 budget
 
Alright cool and thanks. Another question that has kinda been concerning me is do you think the guy scammed me? Ive read about things to watch out for and a few things that seemed abnormal was the air intake hose being off, and the clutch cable missing. Once i got it home i powershifted up to 2nd gear, so at least i know the tranny is working properly. I just hope the clutch isnt going out. I guess ill just have to wait and find out wed. when the new cable comes in.
 
Ill look more into that when i get the cable. Also this is my first two stroke. Just curious this thing does have a rev limiter right? i just dont want to end up blowing the engine. Yes, i have ridden my friends cr85, but this is older and i just want to be sure it has one before i go off and over rev it and blow the engine.

its the tors your talking about, throttle over ride system. its shuts it down if the throttle is stuck wide open i believe
