hey guys, i picked up a 2005 blasty early in the sumer of 09, and have been riding hard since. it has fmf core2 and who knows if anything done to engine. i added K&N filter and misc cosmetics.

i guess, after seeing a MINT 2003 on here for 1350, me paying 1200 was getting ripped off... i didnt know any better. oh well. :(

anyway, what are some things to do first, to get my bike running real tight and crisp? i want it to sound like this guys
. thanks for the advice and your time.

Sorry to tell you but I doubt you are ever going to get a Blaster to sound like a 250r. Two totally differant machines and motors.
Dont get me wrong a Blaster with the right exhaust will sound awesome too.
If you go into the motor section and look throught the threads you will find some sound clips of some members Blasters.

Got any pics of your new Blaster?
Also welcome to the site.....

i just want that tight crisp sound and i need reeds for some great throttle response.. i just bought itos carbon reeds off evay. 30 shipped. they are 2 stage reeds that go onto stock cage. pics soon yes..

If you can get away with a clamp on fliter they are a nice inprovment.
They sound great too.

and if you skip to about 2:01 you can hear the filter noise a bit better VVVV

A big part in the "crisp-ness" is proper jetting.

Theres of course port work, head reshaping, timing advance, a better pipe, big bores, strokers that all effect the snappy-ness of your bike.. it all depends on how much you want to spend.

Welcome to the forum btw!

i have a new K&N on there i spent 40 bucks on.. reeds coming in the mail maybe next week early? just the upgraded reeds, not the whole assembly.

*edit* ps, that bike sounds bad ass.. ill have to tape me riding but when this sh*t slush wet snow goes away..

a week after i bought her, i slapped the K&N filter on, and carefully sprayed every inch of visible fram and motor with high heat engine enamel, and took the rugged stickers off. [6 speed come on]. also sprayed the wheels flat black, and the grab bars black.. i put a new moose front bumper on her yesterday.

also i have a chain and sprocket set.. it came with a 12 tooth so i ordered a 14 tooth because i dont think the 92 link will be long enough for 12/40 AND i dont really want that gearing anyway.
