Hey Fellas, I'm RJ. Just picked up a 05 blaster last Sunday, this is my first quad so I am going to see how I like it. I am new to the quad game but I have always had 2 stroke dirtbikes so I do know a few things about 2 strokes; not everything by far, but enough to get by. Anyway I got a great deal on this bike because it was "blown up." I ripped into it as I had time throughout the week and figured out that the problem is the rod bearing on the crank is completly shot. Ordered a Wiseco crank/rod bottom end kit to replace it with and done a few quick mods while I am into it. I have learned a lot reading on here the last week and I look forward to learning a lot more. Here is my Blasty, I will probably start a thread in the projects forum in the next few days.

How far I have gotten on the rebuild

welcome to BF... RJ.!
looks like a good base to start with, keep the pics of your progress coming

nice blaster do you mind me asking how much you got it for?
And, Welcome to BF

I traded a racing kart chassis I have had for a while to it, no motor or anything just frame and body. I really didn't have much in it either, probably a couple hundred bucks.

Where are you located? I'm between Erwin and Greeneville.

Elizabethton, where do you ride around here? I have only lived here for about 3 years and haven't had anything to ride since I have been here. I know there is I-81 and buffalo mountain. I am sure there are a ton more places but i just dont know where they are.

As far as close and legal, that's about it for public land. If you are willing to risk the fines, there is plenty of trails. I'm not suggesting anyone to do that but I can certainly understand if someone does. Some people think that having 340,000 acres of public land, which has over 500 miles of "U.S. Forest Service roads" but just 12 miles of legal OHV trails is a load of crap. One thing is for sure, if someone was going to ride where it's not allowed, they would want to stay clear of the AT. With tree hugging hikers carrying cell phones, communication towers all along the top giving good cell service an evil law breaker could have USFS or TWRA offices waiting when they get back to the van. If you want good riding without fear of the Government agencies, try NC, VA, WV and KY. Those states love the revenue that riders bring in to the state.
