I've been working on car engine's for almost 10 years now so I know a good deal about how engines work. I just bought a 2003 Blaster for 300 bucks thats in poor condition and I have very limited knowledge on 2 stroke engines. My question is, can anyone point me in the right direction in a rebuild proccess? I dont know anything about these engines and am pretty lost when it comes to trying to figure out what direction to take. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I'm not entirely sure. The guy I bought it from really ragged on it, and when I took it for a spin around the yard it felt like it lacked power. That and the A arms are bent. It basically needs a complete strip down in my opinion. I just have know idea what I'm doing to the engine.

neither do we lol but idk what ur trying to say why do you want to rebiuld the engine if theres nothing wrong. #1 check the compression should be between 130-110psi most ppl rebiuld after 120 psi #2 is it smoking white or blue? blue ur good. if its white u got a bad crank seal.

Go Ahead also and drain your gear oil and put in fresh, I use Bel-Ray Gear Saver and its 75W. Alot of the users on here use that or Name Brand Oil thats usually 10W-40. Make sure not to use Fully Synthetic either, if you do, your clutch will slip like hell!

dude, get a manual and get to work, these things are so simple i brought one home in boxes and with a little help from the manual, i put it together with basically no hang ups in my apartment. get the tusk crank installer tool, and a clutch basket holding tool, they're invaluable in doing the job right. also you can use a harmonic balancer puller to split the case halves if need be.

and most importantly, start a build thread lol

OK, thanks everyone for the tips. I'll be picking up a manual today and probably start the tear down process next week sometime.

welcome to the forum man.......it wont br long and you will be knowing the blasty inside and out.......very simple machines to work on.......and yes lets see the pics
