New Chain

Hey i just ordered a new chain Amazon.com: Yamaha YFS200 YFS 200 Blaster 88-06 O-Ring Chain Yellow: Automotive what do you guys think and now i need to get this damn stator cover off. The screws are stripped so bad i don't know what to do?

Is it that the stars are worn out of the screws, if so a little trick I learned a while ago was to drill a small hole in the head with a 1/16 drill, and with a good screwdriver belt it in a few times without trying to turn it.

This puts some fresh indentations in the head and may allow you to remove them with an impact scredriver.

Warning dont drill too deep as the head may shear off.

Failing that drill the heads of the screw off and then remove after you get the cover off with pipe grips (multigrips).

Again... dont mix new chains with old sprockets, all should be new to save $$$$ down the road.

i cut some slots into the screw heads with a rotary tool, and then used a flat head screwdriver....

Drill the head off if there is no other way to remove it!

Impact screwdriver for 20 bux is the best way, it never failed me with even totally stripped screw heads.

chisel and a hammer....get a chisel go at 45 degree angle and tap left on the side of the screwonce you get a good notch she will break free with ease ....I have done this numerous times and works fine

Blunten the chisel some to impede it from cutting into the head and slicing off a chunk.

If the beggars have been put in with loctite on them, they will be swines to get out.

If the chisel technique wont work, drill the head off and fit a new bolt, it will save so much frustration and you will get to ride so much sooner..

Well i finally got it off after cracking my Stator Cover luckily i got an extra one waiting for my new chain.

I am going to reiterate, it is not a good idea to put a new chain on to old sprockets.

There is more than an even chance that the lovely new yellow chain will be as stretched and as worn out as the old one within a few hours of riding..

The reason for this is that the sprocket teeth will not match the distance between the rollers of the new chain.

There is a chance that the old sprockets will make the new chain ride up , tighten and then break , and that may take a case out.

Some more dollars spent now on a complete set, may save you some headaches and some dollars later.

Play it safe bro New chain.... new sprockets!

never let your bolts get that bad. replace them long before that. i suggest a complete stainless steel allen bolt set. that's what i have on my blaster.

First off i take care of my bike it was the PO who stripped everything!!!

I have ran, the cheaper ones $65 primary drive-off of ebay from forwardpowersports seller haven't had a problem yet. Going on third year! 8200 tensile strenth chain steel sprockets.

Not a blunt chisel a sharp chisel, I sure he didnt plan on re-using them LOL

Blunt chisel to stop cutting the bit of the head off you want to get purchase on.

Im not suguessting that the bolts be cut off, but be jolted in the anticlockwise direction to loosen them to allow them to be removed.
