Ok need serious help getting aggravated. I've got a 240bbk,hot rods crank, vforce reeds, cfm air box with k&n filter, mikuni tm 34mm carb brand new on most of this stuff and a dg nationals exhaust and pipe. And Vito's degree key. So with that said there is an idea of what I have. I'm running a 320main jet and a 35 pilot and clip in the middle on the needle. Can't get it running right. Is my set up to big for the exhaust system? When I get on the gas the power band is delayed big time.

Have you done a plug chop to confirm jetting?

Has a leak test been performed recently?

What about the air box lid is it on or off?

#35 pilot seems large, a 32.5 could be good enough.

Have you set the float level and adjusted the idle to specs?

Where is your air screw at?

i haven't done a plug chop
Haven't done a leak test but engine was built four years ago and all the seals gaskets and bearings have been replaced hasn't been rode much and garage kept.
Lid is off, air screw set a one and half turn, IDle is set right and I think float is set right it's new and a lil diff to set compared to stock carb.

by the way I read a lot of your stuff your a very big help. just couldn't find out much about the mikuni tm 34mm carbs there a lil tricky to figure out.

yes, that pipe is holding you back, it's not much more than a chromed stock pipe.
if you get this tuned now for that pipe, you will need to re-tune if/when you get a different pipe.

firstly, check set float height:

the 35 pilot may or may not be right for a 35mm carb on a 240bbk ?
only 1 way to find out:

qoutes from another member running that carb on a heavily ported stock cylinder w/ right bend pipe......

" I've been running a Mikuni TM series flat-silde carburetor on my Blaster for the last month,
I'm running a 290 main.
a 35 pilot as of now. The engine likes the main jet, but the pilot may need reduced one size ?

The Mik 34's 5fp17, double-tapered needle is too rich for the Blaster engine, i'm going to get
a few needles two or three sizes leaner than the 5FP17 and tune from there. Here's a needle chart

Also since engine has sat n was built r years ago is an even more reason to leak test as things settle and dry rot, plus just bc it was built doesnt mean it was leak tested. Id find a better flowing exhaust, ebay had a bbk exhaust floating around recently

X2 on the leak test, sitting or not every 2 stroke deserves to be leak tested at least twice a season!

To arrive at the correct jetting the engine must be leak free, the float set and the idle adjusted as per specs, otherwise you chase your tail!

he is sucking 240cc of fuel/air in though, the 320 may be correct ?
probably not with that DG pipe ?

start at the bottom and work up...float height, pilot/airscrew, needle, and then plug chop main jets
in that order

Thanks guys will get around to looking and doing all of that as soon as I can. Plus I've got access to a full lrd pipe gong to go that route soon. Thanks every one.
