Well im new to the forum so left me first introduce myself. My name is Erik and I just got a 2000 Blaster that is 100% stock. It has been abused and neglected my one of my friends so I got him to sell it to me pretty cheap.

Here are the issues:

1. Hard to start. It take several kicks and normally needs starting fluid. After it warms up it will sometimes start on first kick. Sometimes it won't restart at all.

2. Once running it will normally run good for a little while and then die (bogs). Sometimes it will restart ok sometimes it won't.

Some info that might be useful.

I always have spark

I have cleaned the gas tank and emptied the the carb of the old dirty fuel. Also cleaned the air intake.

Any advice/help would be awesome. I am new to an ATV but been an auto tech for several years. So im not a total noob to working on stuff.

well never use starting fluid i have heard from many people im sorry i cant help with the other problem welcome to the forum good luck

I'd suggest taking the carb off and giving it a good cleaning, while you have it out see what size jets are in it. While you have the carb out, give the reeds a check, make sure they aren't cracked or broke and are tight against the cage. You could also check the ground wire at the ignition coil and make sure its getting a good connection.

I would reccomend checking the compression, should be somewhere above 120psi, other than that check the reeds and look for any air leaks or blown gaskets
