i just got a new motor and carb for my blaster. it is a stock motor with an fmf gold series full exhaust. it has a stock airfilter in it with the lid on. i also have a set of boyseen reeds for it but havent put them on yet. im not really good with carbs and jetting so i was wondering what size jeting do you guys recamend for me. thanks. the carb was jetted for the fmf exhaust ehen i got it, but the head of the pilot jet is twisted off so im not sure what size it was. thanks for any help guys.

What size jet do you have now? what elevation are you at? do you ride where it's wet. If not I would take the air box lid off.

yah i will prob take the lid off and get an k and n filter.im not sure what size the jets are now. im not sure of the elevation, im in minnesota though if that helps. as i said the pilot jet is damaged where is would say the size. i will check the main jet in a bit when i take the carb apart.

I run a 290 main but I just have K&N direct to the carb and I live about 5000' elevation. I would say start some where like a 300 to 330. A good rule is you need 1 size smaller for every 2000' above sea level. hope that helps?

oh the average elevation in Minnesota is around 1200'

no...!
i run a 310 with all my stuff and its fine...all he has is jus a pipe...he should be at a 260-270 at the most...if he ran at 300-330 he would be goin through plugs everyday

I would rather he ran rich than lean that is why I said that big. I was not totaly sure with his elevation. and I ran a 260 when I had a stock airbox and all I have is a pipe. but I think I was a bit big in telling him 330 but 300 is not out of the question to be save?

the jet size that fmf says you need is 270..and even if he gets a k&n filter he still wont need ta re-jet...jus take off the air lid

If you get a new K&N he will have to re-jet when you say FMF says you should run a 270 is that stock? at sea level? I think a 270 would be good if he keeps his air cleaner stock but if he runs a K&N with no lid that will allow more air so he will need a few sizes bigger main? I would just hate for him to run it lean and blow it up before he can even pull a plug and tune it in.

ya thats for jus the pipe but idk bout the sea level stuff....but trust me he wont need ta re-jet...even though they are only like $5 its still a waste of money...as long as he keeps mixing at 32:1 he will be fine

Thanks for helping me guys, yah i mix 32:1. the mods to my motor are fmf gold series fatty pipe with fmf power core 2 silencer. i also just put boyseen reeds in it. it has the stock airfilter in it now with the lid on. i think im going to get a k and n filkter for it and take the airbox lid off. any help is appreciated, thanks again

ok thanks. are you talking about the main jet or the pilot jet? sorry im kinda new to tuning carbs and stuff.

BlasterDayn let me know how you like the boyseen reeds i have been thinking about getting a boyseen rad valve for mine - Thanks.

ok thanks.so the pilot jet shouldnt get changed then? ok i will let you know how they work once i get this thing running priperly.

ok thanks. i still have to replace my pilot jet though because the person who had it before stripped the head of it off so i am going to have to use an ez out or something to get it out and get a new one so i can adjust it.

always start with the largest jet if you buy a jet kit and just ride for 10 min. or so then check your plug. its better then starting with the smallest and doing any damage to your motor. im at about the same elevation as you and im running a 330 main but i bought the vitos jet kit and it comes with a new pilot jet , 6 mains, and a new needle(and its the cheapest jet kit). i have always been told that as long as your plug is like chocolate colored your in good shape ( but other people may tell you different)...
