So i recently put back together my 2004 blaster. It had recently had a new piston and rings put in, twist throttle, and idle kit. The problem is now i cant quite get it started it kicks over and wants to run but dies before it really gets going maybe a second or two of running. What should i check and what would be the best way to troubleshoot and get it going again. Would like to use it this weekend.

Was the top end done correctly?? Torqed down properly with new gaskets?

Easiest thing is the carb, make sure everything it tight and no leaks at carb or right at the reeds. You're sing the choke to start it, right? Once it kicks over you should be able to turn off the choke.

If you're still having issues check the plug. Also, is the gas petcock on?? Throw in a new plug and see if that helps.

i just would like to say this lol. i put a whole new cylinder and head(bb), pipe, carb, piston and airbox and she started 3rd kick.

but man, check your carb. its gota be something with the carb. other than posibly a leak. how were the reeds?

This thing is driving me crazy so i checked the spark plug and there is a blue spark to it. When i pulled it out there was not much residue on it, it was just a little wet not bad. It still wont turn all the way over i have no clue how to start this thing and its pissin me off. Also i have a raptor 350 that i cant get to turn over either turned over fine a few weeks ago and started for about 5 min now its been sitting and wont start. I put the battery on a trickle charger overnight and still wont start. (Could it be that its not a deep enough charge with the trickle charger and needs a real charge on a battery charger) Any help would be appreciated would like to go riding again soon.

did you adjust your idle after you installed the twist throttle? could be the cable has more slack than the stocker.
and what do you mean by "idle kit"?

^^ the stock carb doesnt have a idle because of tors. the kit comes with a drill, a tap and the adjuster itself with instructions on where to put it.

why would you want to idle a 2 stroke??

sounds like the problem is probably an adjustment on the carb. Are you using choke to start it?? Try not using it. IF that makes it start a little easier, then there's a club for ya! If it makes it worse, that's also a clue.

you need the idle kit because of the twist throttle without it the bike wont stay running. There is no extra slack in the throttle cable. With the throttle closed the slide is at the bottom of the carb as you twist the throttle the slide rises in the carb. The gas is on and the choke i have messed with it on and off still cant get it to fire up. Any ideas about this or the raptor 350 that wont turn over?
