I have a 2002 yamaha blaster. I was riding and i was in third gear i beleive and it starting putting down and i looked behind me a cloud of smoke came out of my muffler and still smoking really bad plus it smokes where the pipe goes into the motor. My buddie that knows everything about blasters said the only thing that would cause that is if the tranny went or the case cracked but it wouldnt run. It still runs and moves but smokes really bad and i dont know why.

is the smoke white and smell horrible? and if it comes out to where the pipe meets the case its no big deal just a leak is there get some silicone or a new gasket and put there.

i mean this is my 1st blaster let alone two stroke motor i have ever owned so i dont know anything about them. And when i told my buddie that knows everything about them he just told me to let it warm up and ride it and see if it clears up but i dont want to blow my motor. Im just worried ill tear it apart and my case or tranny is f*cked

The two most important things for a 2 stroke is the correct jetting and making sure you don't have any case leaks. A leak down test will show if your good to go or not. You never want air to enter the motor from anywhere but the carb. On a 2 stroke , the oil in the gas is the only lubrication for the motor.

I don't want a buddy like that, that's not good advice.

Do some checking, like a leak down test. If your buddy knows how to do it, get somebody else to do it!

ok. Well im just worried that something major happened to my blaster and its gonna suck if there is something major wrong with it because it will be sitting for a bit and i havent had it long so i havent really rode it much....

Don't ride it until you have had a leak test done, if you do it could be costly.

On the bright side, if it is a crank seal the repair is not too dear.

I just had the same issue. I had a broken case. I kind of thought that from the amount of smoke it had to be a busted case or a leaky case. I would do a leak down test with the clutch cover off to check the wet side seal. I had a guy change the seal and it still smoked so I waisted the money for that. I didnt find the break in the case untill I took the top end off and looked down in the crank area with a flash light. You may want to start there if you have alot of smoke.

Nope i was riding in the feild behind my house when it happened. and like i said started smoking really bad from the muffler and where the pipe meets the front of the motor and when i say it smokes it smokes bad. But it still starts, runs and moves.

Ok. Well guess ill start there then and hopefully its nothing major because im kind of tight on cash right now and cant really afford to fix anything major on it, So if it is something major it will be sitting for a bit.

If you are handy with a wrench, and have a few, the seal replacement is a cheap fix. A seal, gasket and oil, even though you can re-use the gasket and oil, but not a good choice.

Have second thoughts about letting your buddy (who knows everything about Blasters) help you.

The advice he gave you about riding it and see if it clears up, proves that he knows absolutely nothing.
