I'm about half way through rebuilding my first blaster. It's an 88. Got it ripped down to the frame to strip down and repaint it. I want to send off my jug to get bored and all while I finish painting. Its measuring 68.17 so that means I need to order a 68.25 top end kit, right? I was also wondering how big I could bore it before I need to sleeve or go to a bbk. I think 73.00 right?

NO. If it just needs honed ya may get away with a 68.25 piston which is last bore on a stock jug!

Then it is resleeved!

yep . cause going more bores through a stock jug isint going to do much of a power increase overall. But with the BBK you definatly will. I think the last bore on a bbk Now dont swear me in on a stack of bibles is 74mm and starts out on 72mm but yes If you can use the other jugs Youu might even save asome money on getting it bored, good luck bud

Ive got two extra jugs, both on thier first bores I think. So i'd be better off using one of them?

If your not going to "port the jug" then why not use the last bore?? I'm not one for wasting a bore. but if your gonna get ported, yes use one of the stock bore ones if ya have one!

Thanks for all the info. And slicker, I think I will use up that last bore if I can find someone to bore it for me. Not to many options here in south side va. If any one on here knows of anyone close to me I'd love to know about it.

By the way first time on this forum and loving it. Got a pile of info from just reading. Thanks guys!

welcome to the forum. just like slick said, there should be a bore left in it.

if you do plan on using the last bore of that 68.17mm jug instead of getting a stock jug ported/bored. and are looking for a little more power out of the stock jug/head, you could always have the head milled or decked down(depending on the equipment the machinist has) for more compression to give yourself a little more power at a reasonable price $50-75.

having it decked will remove a certian amount of the mating surface. having it milled or cnc'd will result in a redesigned dome. milling usually results in more power, but having it decked is faster and eaiser.

ive even seen guys make a jig to hold a head. then deck it with a belt sander hooked to a depth gauge or micrometer, but thats extremely unprofessional, however it does work if the mating surface stays flat and straight. but its much eaiser to just send a head to oconnor racing to get a top quality head job done for $60.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to take your advice and use the last bore on that jug. For anyone else in southside VA looking for a machinist, I did some calling around and Eds Honda in South Boston does a bore for $60. When I go to drop off my jug I'll ask about other services and post my findings.
