Need clutch upgrade info

Looking for good tuff upgrades for the clutch discs, basket, springs.Im not shur how well the stock parts will hold up to hard ridding.

IMO, the best clutch you can put together:
A good aftermaket basket or a fresh oem basket ( as soon as the basketstarts grooving, clutch engagment is decreased) The aftermarket baskets are much tuffer than oem.

Stock clutch disks, replace the narrow plate and wave spring with a full size disk
Stock plates, (mic them to make sure they are in spec)
Barnett heavy springs.

Make sure your pressure plate is in good shape too. I had one let go and it twisted the crank, twisted the output shaft and pulled the stator side input bearing thru the case. Plus tore up the gears and tore up a hinson basket. it gets expensive when the only thing really salvagable is the top end. Especially when the bottom end and tranny was all brand new with less than 15 minutes on it.

that's interesting phragle. what are your feelings on roughing up the steels with a scotch brite type disc on a grinder?

When you look at a Hinson, pay attention to the slots they mill into the fingers of the basket. You can copy this by drilling 2, 1/8 holes in each finger. Stay on center. I also drill two small holes in each rib of the inner basket. Seems like it makes the plates last longer.

heres the best lookin set and deal i have found, and it already comes with the extra disc to replace the wave washer as phragle stated, read the r&d on it...............
