What is the best way to clean and prep the cylinder and head for paint?

I want to paint my cylinder with High temp Black paint then sand the fines to give it that shiney look. My question is how should I prep it? not sure I can sand Blast it can I?

What have you guys done to clean it and prep it for paint?

Never been there but you could sandblast it, but you are going to get a heck of a lot of blow back.

You could try putting on a lot of paint stripper and then wrapping the jug in cooking alfoil to stop the solvents evaporating, and get a really good penetration.

Leave it for 30 mins then you could clean it up with a pressure cleaner.

paint stripper, works good. I have seen some use, oven easy off and put it in the oven.

I just repainted the blaster top head and cylinder myself, I used the high heat 500 degree paint from autozone.

I used soapy water and a tooth brush to get into the fins. I had to take the tooth bruth down to the belt sander to thin the bruth to get into the tigher areas of the fins.

But the paint on it was good, just dull looking, so I did not remove.

The bad part about the fins on these is, they are rounded over and I passed on the fancy edge work. But I have done it in the past on motorcycles.
