2004 banshee and I have a problem with starting it after its been sitting awhile. Its not electrical or compression. What ive found that fixes it (kinda weird) is that if I flip the quad up on the grab bar and let the fuel drain for 1-2 seconds then put it back down itll start in 1-2 kicks everytime. When its warm no problems starting it. When it sits overnight I have to flip it up again to get it to start.

Possibly the float? Ive tried cleaning the carb and it doesnt help. Maybe I need to reset the idle jet? Doesnt make sense though because it idles beautiful once its started.

id say float, but if u get a lil extra smoke on those start ups then the oil your premixing may be setteling to the bottom of the tank! maybe try shaking the bike back and forth and see if it does the same thing?

not a genius at this stuff sparky but from what ive learned so far id think the float. is kinda weird though and what a pain in the ass to lift your Banshee up like that everytime you want to ride :(

Yea, it is a pain but I only have to lift it up at the beginning of the day then itll start fine the rest of the day..... Weird :-/

Ill mess with the floats next time I have it apart.

I dont leave gas in the tank when it sits for long periods of time, so I dont think it could be oil settling.

Update: Found the prob, the left carb top had come unscrewed a little. Cleaned both carbs and tightened everything up and the shee started right up. Didnt have to mess with the floats... thank god.

I'm not the smartest kid but all i have to say is that my dad and a bunch of people i know say that when you let a machine sit for long periods of time with out gas in the tank it messes with your carb and water condensates in your tank, but like i said im not the smartest person =))

very true, also causes rust, but you'd have to leave it sit for a pretty good while before it did that!
