got an 03. was running fine and then the throttle stuck, looked at the carb and the top wont stay fastened to the threads and leaks a lot through the overflow when trying to kick start. any ideas?

where the throttle cable hooks into the carb it screws in on top of it, well is supposed to but mine isnt. how can i set my float height.

thats what i was thinking too. id love to have somebody thats had this problem chime in cause im not wanting to fork out the money for a shop.

Sounds like it's time for a new carb. Sounds like your saying the threads are striped on top of your carb where the TORS screws on. You may get lucky and only the TORS threads are messed up but most likely the threads on the carb are bad to.

would that still stop it from running though? i just got it yesterday used very cheap. it ran fine then and did for about 15 minutes today and then the throttle stuck. it wount thread back and when it does its gotta be in the perfect spot. then the overflow leaks on kick start and wont turn over.

The over flow is from the carb being dirty most likely. The throttle stuck because the TORS came off pulling the carb slide with it. The wight of the TORS on top of the carb puts a lot of stress on the threads when rode hard. I would say get a TORS delete kit but if the carb threads are bad, it's not going to do you any good.

would it be a good idea to go ahead and get the tors delete kit and a new carb at the same time and just save the extra trouble. cause i mean i literally have 3 extra blaster engines just all taken apart, yet only one carb..

I had exact same problem X( Start by cleaning your carb, read thread "Almost free carb repair" or something like that. Then I applied a Presidential Solution. With both threads clean apply 3bond, JB weld or simular, put tors back on, re-inforce with wire or zip-ties. I bought a tors kit but brand new cap wouldn't stay on either. So you can either "booger" it or if you buy carb get one a little bigger. Maybe a bud has a blown up 80-85 that you can swipe the carb off of. I would be very leary of a used stock carb because it may be no better then yours. :D

so how did you end keeping your cap on the threads? cause i mean i would almost buy a new carb for 200. cause if i found a way to fix the current one then i could just use the new one with the parts bike.

try by adding lock tight to the cap, and the carb is overfloaing eaither by the float, or is clogged, and try to clean it. if nothin wors between all the stuffffs above, but buy a new carb.... its prob only 30$ on ebay. not too bad

I just had an idea! Not sure how well it would work on a striped TORS. Cut two slots on the TORS cap across from each other the with of a saw blade. Put one wrap of electric tap on the carb threads. Use a good brand heavy duty hose clamp around the TORS cap and tighten.

^^^the delete kit is a good idea regardless of your situation because it will allow you to swap main jets without removing the carb.

Are the threads on the carb buggered or the treads on the tors cap.....or both?

If it's the carb threads that are a mess, take the carb off and try to clean the threads up......you can use a file or whaterver, but go slow and do the best you can. Then buy the tors delete kit with cable off of ebay. Then you'll atleast be starting with one good set of carb-cap threads to mate up to your carb threads (that you just cleaned up).

fyi - you have to have the threads lined up perfectly even when they're not buggered up. You generally don't find much, if any, slop on a carb except maybe throttle shafts over long periods of time.

Also, definitely clean the carb. Even after cleaning, floats will stick open from time to time. When this happens, turn off the fuel valve, tap the carb bowl a few times with a screwdriver handle, and then turn the fuel valve back on.

also the valve seat "little rubber cone" that shuts the fuel off from coming in the bowl ....take a Qtip and toothpaste and clean it real good then clean it up with carb cleaner

thanks guys. a lot of things to try. really appreciate the help

If none of these great ideas work out for u I just picked up a project quad not going to use the stock carb or tors unit, I would part with. Pm me if your interested. -Slick

Does sound like the threads are stripped on the cap and or carb, You could for a temp fix zip tie (cable tie) the cap to the carb body, that way it can be removed easily if needed.
