me and my dad just went today to look at a 1996 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 automatic. it was in great shape and ran beautifully! we took it for a test drive and looked everything over, talked to him a little bit, and paid him $2500 cash. we got the keys and title but tomorrow dad is going to go to the courthouse and get the title switched over and he is taking a trailer to pick up the truck. it has 187k miles (i know it seems high) but it started up right away and ran like a new one, you could tell it had been serviced and everything on time. here are a few pics that were in the ad i'll get my own pics next time i'm down there or sooner if i talk dad into taking some and sending them to me haha.

nice ride i have a 99 xlt extended cab 2wd 5spd 4 banger just turned 120,000 no problems at all and it get sweet MPG

yeah you can't beat the little rangers. he would have got me an f150 but hear that gas is supposed to go up to $5+ dollars and he is tempted to get a little ranger to drive as well because his f150 has the 5.4 triton and straight pipes haha. i love the truck though and i'm already planning on getting a bug deflector for the hood, rain blocks over the windows, a cd player, a amp and sub eventually.

Nice truck !

lift, bigger tires, and 4x4 will cost you money in gas. if you want to save gas, you need to get you a 4 cylinder 2wd. i picked me up a 97 nissan hardbody with a 4 cyl 5 speed 2wd, regular cab and it saves gas alot. like 40 bucks to fill up if i am empty and i can get like 290 miles. i have a heavy foot though

i want to lift and get bigger tires but doubt i will ever get around to it, and thanks to all of you guys! it don't have to be the best thing around on gas, just needs to be better then a big v8 haha. i am looking around for a nice exhaust for it, one that isn't deafening but lets you know it has some power behind it and makes it sound a little mean. you guys know any that you'd suggest? dad picked it up and switched the title into his name today!

a few things... 2500 for that milage was to much, but what do i know...

2.5 inch cat back exhaust, high flow cat, and a good cold air intake with a k&n filter, you will pick up hp and tq BUT when you drive nice you will pick up mpg, 4.0 rangers and explorers have been proven to pick up 2-3 mpg just by adding a 2.5 inch cat back exhaust with a free;'er flowing muffler,

if you lift it and want to keep your gas mileage you need to regear the front end and rear end acordingly for the tire size so that way the motor works no harder trying to turn the bigger tires

around here that is a hell of a deal for a truck with no rust anywhere, runs like new, drives smooth, and has a near perfect interior.

and i think this one is a 3.0 but COULD be the 4.0 i'm not sure, i kept forgetting to ask but my dad knows. and i plan on getting rid of the random cattage (catalytic converter i think is the correct term) I:I and i'm wanting straight pipes all except for the main back, put the little canister part back there. does that sound like a good idea to you?

hmm.. buddy of mine has a rust free ranger that body stile paid like 900 bucks for it,,

high flow cat, 2.5 inch piping to a flowmaster/magnaflow/ or borla muffler, and a cold air intake, if its the vulcan motor (3.0) there good motors to, i had a splash with the 3.0 and a 5 speed. did burnouts for days lol

yeah big difference where you're at! around here 900 would get you a rust covered ranger on it's last breaths haha. and i prefer flowmaster, my mustang has straight pipes and flowmaster ends. and dad said he was most likely getting cold air intake anyways because he don't like the type of air filter it takes, it takes what looks like a cone. and i'll definitely look into the exhaust choice.

my dad has one of those trucks but his is manuel and is a 99 it has 238k on it and starts right up and doesnt smoke at all.

^^^^ exactly what i mean, they're reliable little trucks that's for sure! i got a 1990 ford ranger 4x4 auto with the 2.9 and it has 377k miles on it and still runs like new. only reason dad got me another one is because the 90 was used as a work truck on a strip job and all the body is ate out on it (frame, bed, cab, cab mounts, front fenders) only thing good on it is the motor, tranny, and the hood haha. everything works it's just rusted so bad.

its a spray called lense tint you can find it at auto zone, just spray it on the more coats the darker it gets, but you can still see the lights when they're on

hmmm, i don't know if i'd like that because you would never be able to go back to the regular taillights without buying new ones... right now i'm looking at headlight and taillight covers on ebay (the black ones) and also looking at the rain blocks to go over the windows.
