Im guessing the rest of the piston, is inside the case.

You can see here that, there is part of the case missing and you can see part of a screw here. I:I

Ok here is a picture of the intake boot.

theres a rip in the boot, can this affect air/fuel mixture?

And finally how do I get this off the motor?

So is the case still useable? Im starting to hate two strokes lol.
Any help is apreciated. Thanks guys.

that sucks dude, dont hate on the machine because of bad maintence though. that boot most definately will screw your fuel/air ratio up, i check mine quite frequently. you need a flywheel puller to get the stator off, they are like $15 on egay. good luck man!!

nahhh i aint hatin on the machine bro, i was just venting. Just frustrating. What do you think about the case? can I still use it even though that chunk is missing?

i would think you need to replace that side but im not sure, im sure someone else will know. with that much piston in your cases splitting them and cleaning them woudl be the safest thing anyhow.

ell i plan on splitting it. i forgot i could just replace that side also. Its goin to be a bit before its up and running. Hopefully like 2 weeks if all goes well.

yeah that sucks bro, usually the exhaust side of piston that shatters, and i'd think since ya gotta split them cases to clean to out the shrapnel, find that side of the case on ebay or here, look at the bright side....it coulda happened closer to spring and held you up from some good riding weather, and what make of boot is that, i'm in the market for a 34mm boot, and wanna make sure i dont get that brand!!!!

i have no idea, but i will see if its stamped on the boot. I got the bike as a while back with all that on it. Good point on the timeframe bud, thanks for the positive input.

oh yeah, glad ya made it back from iraq safely,
and thanx for defending our freedom!!!!!

last winter/spring when i did my motor(same problem), i bought all new parts myself and got my cylinder bored at a machine shop ($40)took motor and parts to my local yamaha shop, they split my cases and reassembled with my new parts for $110 labor,
good deal i thought

well so i took my parts to some machine shops and some friends. My friend said that I might be able to reuse the case since, its not used to seal anything. The screw that went through that part is still solid with no play. Im still goin to have to split it though to clean out all the debris.

Thanks all for sayin welcome back. Tops off to you fellas.

Yea i will second that. You dont want to half a@* the motor. It might work and i think it would but it would really suck if it busted when you start gettin on it

yep i feel if that place broke once the metal is weaker now and has a higher chance of breaking more off and causing another tear down to clean out the debris. im with everyone else "it's better to be safe than sorry"

welcome back stateside bro.........if u are not looking to spend the money, i also think u can reuse that case......ive seen much worse in a case that ran fine, until i tore it aprt a found some suprises inside lol

that piston looks like a vitos super stock...... ticking time bomb u can call them... good luck and that case looks salvage able if u clean it out
