....but you get the idea eh. I found a 120" sled track for $20 studded, sorta lol. With no air the tires they were approx. 60" around, so I cut the track in half, I quickly realized the inside of the track had the knobbies for it to drive on the sprockets on a regular snowmobile which added more diameter and wasnt hugging the tire, I had no choice to take a saws-all and removed all the ones that made contact with tire. left the outside row alone.

It helped abit but I still had to use these thinga-ma-bobs....(I've been told a few times what they are, I keep forgeting, lol).Drilled five holes into each end of the track rib, all these were the same length so all of them had to go in at the same time, WHAT A PAIN IN A$$ THAT WAS....then I had to open all of them up to slide it on the tire, ughhhh..threaded them all the way closed and fill up the tires with air til there was enough tension on the track to not slip.

I offset the gap on each tire so it wouldnt contact the ground at the same time.

Skis are going on the front for sure. I tried it out already, it did ok, Its been mild lately and we had a rain day yesterday, it digs in f**cking quick going up any small incline, at one point it dug in and it wheelied on me!!!

Re: My Latest Creation, not quite finshed...

have you tryed it in the snow? how does it work? be careful that you don't run over your leg!!!

Re: My Latest Creation, not quite finshed...

wouldnt it be easier to just get a cheap old bomber snowmobile lol

you obvious dont know how I think....lmfao.

and I dont have the spare dough to spend on an old beater that would cost me more money to run and fix.

This was truly an experiment, but I would of went insane if I didnt even try to attempt doing it.

Lol this is funny.
But yeah that is quite a good thing to have the rear tyres musy come in handy alot.
And yeah that would hurt if you ended up coming of your quad and having them run you over lol.

To make the tires tighter to the track you could have le all the air out of the tires put the tracks on tightly and then pump your tires back up.

Very cool. Not sure I'd trust the turnbuckles. They'd carve you up if they came out at any sort of speed. Very cool idea though. Will it turn? Or just plow straight ahead?

protective heel guards are priority one....like I said, not quite finished eh.

It can turn fine in my driveway and in soft snow, if I turn in the deep snow it will dig down, I gotta keep moving but I hope the skis will help it along tho.

I like the idea.Too bad you didn't get a 140 inch track.I have a pair of ski doo skis here that someday I am going to make a bracket for and weld it to the skis and have it bolt up to the front hubs.I think it will work pretty good just keep an eye on the turnbuckles,if they come loose it will not be a pretty site.lol Good job bro.

Ya I miscalculated the length, I assumed I would just need an average size track, My original plan was to overlap it throw a few bolts in it instead. That ski mount idea has gone through my head, It would work alot better, You can make so much more ground clearance.

looks good!! a old mountain track/ deep powder track would be the sh*t!!! ya know the ones with the real deep lugs,, and the turn buckles will be fine just check them now and then to make sure there still tight!!!

and dont worry about fallin off,.. there is a guy on a banshee here that runs 60+ snowmobile piks per rear tire
