well.. i need to throw a new airfilter in her. carb is stock but jetted.. and it has boysen power reeds.
If you're a better rider than him, then sure.
If not, the 400ex will smoke you in the trails because the suspension is far superior and the gearing on the ex is perfect for woods....you can really rip on those 400exs.

yea he is a insane rider.. he used to race a 2001 blaster.. i think i would get him in the beginning but idk bout the strech
You'll probably go up on the main when you get that dirty stock filter out of there and replace it with a better flowing aftermarket one. Don't forget to oil it and clean it regularly for best results.
While you may be able to take the ex on in the open (depending on your weight and his, etc.) you'll need some serious suspension work to be able to keep up with him in the trails if you're both about the same in terms of riding experience. Although for you, if you can learn to keep up with him with a poorer suspension, then that will make you that much better of a rider than him in the long run.
get a 34mm carb, some port work and better pipe! then you can hang with him.

so i should get rid of the fmf pipe and silencer? and where do you recommend buying the carb?
that biotch looks nice noober, real nice! What are you doing for the intake boot?? I might try to dremel mine but idk yet.
im gonna buy one, i would kick myself so hard to spend all that money on a ported cylinder, piston, stroker crank and screw it all up because i cheaped out on my intake boot.
and what pipe should i get... i have no cash... should i sell my fatty and power core 2 and try and find a good deal?
Save your money to buy a pipe, port work, and carb....then you will smoke him! for now, i'd jet to have a clamp on style air filter..get smoke velocity stack or rad. hose and clamp on a K&N or UNI, or any other high-flow air filter (better than stock)...just make sure tooooooo JETTTT!!!
