Ok so i have a 96 blaster tors removed has spark and 120 lbs of compression, the intake boot is good everything it tight i do not believe i have an air leak, exhaust is bolted up good as well.

I have the pilot jet at 25 i am not sure if that is the correct size can any one tell me what the stock pilot screw size is and main jet too please!!!??

where should i put the idle screw to start and where should i put the air fuel screw to start??

so i kick the bike to start is and it sounds like it wants to turn over but sounds extremely boggy Like wooop woop for a few short seconds then shuts off almost immediatly can any one help me any ideas?? please anything would help thanks

What did it do before you parked it? Leave the idle screw alone.. Turn the airscrew 1 1/2 turns out after you clean your carb then try again if that doesn't work check your reeds..

ok i checked the reeds reeds are fine just doesnt start has a lot of spark spark plug is fine, from kicking it it looks liek there is gas coming out of overflow , i dunno what to do

definately needs the stock pilot put back in it
also do a float valve check, make sure when compressed it's shutting off the gas, if not the float valve is worn or ripped, and set the floats to 20 - 21.5mm

ok still not working, How do i check and adjust the float level?? Its dumping fuel out of the carb when i turn the gas on. But The quad doesnt even start when i spray starting fluid in the carb either, It has spark i feel it on my hand. I checked compression has 120 lbs what the hell

your floats sound way out of wack man, use the search button or look in the online manual stickied in the engine section for the procedure.

more than likely the float valve is bad/torn, and will need replaced, it's under and connected to the floats, push the float pivot pin out, and that will all come out as one, check the rubber tip for wear, or possibly just dirt

pay attention to how it is connected, it'll need to go back in the same way, the tab the springy thing hooks to is what gets bent downwards slightly to adjust the floats
till you measure 20 -21.5mm, like this..................

if the float valve is found bad, dont just buy one, they're expensive, $50+ at the dealers, but come in the "under $20" carb rebuild kits from moose racing, avaiable on ebay, your other option is grab the stock carb strokedtater has for sale on here

ok i replaced the float and now no more dumping fuel. Still no start so i threw in a set of V force Reeds Still no start so at closer observation i see some oil coming from in between the top end and botttom end. Will my bike run if i have a leak between the top and bottom end? But i still have 120 lbs of compression at the spark plug hole. What you think about that now? Also i do have plenty of spark at the spark plug because is zaps my hand when i remove it from the cylinder

you could have a base gasket leak , get a good cometic or yamaha oem base gasket and go no further until you install it . but You maay just be able to tighten the jug bolts to seal it up , they need to be tightened every once in awhile . have you cleaned the carb thoroughly? did you go back to the stock 32.5 pilot jet? Dont use starting fluid either , thats not a good idea , put pre-mix into a spray bottle if your going that route .
Hows the air filter look? I hope your not trying to start it with no filter on the carb , cause that is a bad idea .

yess i went back to the 32.5 stock pilot cleaned carb really good. i tried tightening down the top end as much as possible, but i did not have the air filter on, i have goten these bikes started without air filters before. Heres what i dont gget. If i have 120 psi of compression where is it going??? i guess not out of the exhaust like it should but any way it can maybe??? why wouldnt the exhaust go out of the exhaust port?? ughh wat a pain.

you shouldn't start it with no filter , that screws up your jetting , you have more air coming in that when you have a filter , so now your ratio is wrong . plus its sucking dirt and debris into the cylinder , not a smooth move . If your gauge is saying 120 then its 120 , unless you have a faulty gauge . You have spark , Have you cleaned the choke? taken it fully apart and cleaned it? Whats your air screw setting at? it should be at 1.5 turns out as a baseline . and is it the stock carb , and what size main jet is in it ? And what mods have you done?

ok im in NYC and its 32 degrees outside and sea level im running 230 Main Jets. Thats about stock Any ideas?? any other ideas about why i cant get it runnin?

just because u feel current on your hand doesnt mean u have sufficient spark, take the plug out and put it back in the boot and put it on a metal surface, there should be a bright blue spark.

i have a hunch this is electrical, but that base gasket leak has to be fixed with a new gasket and retorqued

just try putting a drop or two of petrol down the spark plug hole and put the spark plug back in and try to fire it up you should at least get a little life out of it, if you get nothing at all you know its your spark

you could measure the resistance across the coil , check the manual for the specs , and test it with a multimeter
if thats good test the lighting and source coils on the stator , if thats good , nake sure you dont have something grounded out . or a bad run switch
