More stupid problems

So i took the bike out for a long trail ride today. After trying to keep up with my buddies dirtbike after awhile we stopped to let the, both cool down a bit. well when we started back up i only had 3rd gear. I know they are sticking but wondering what could cause this. Could it be from getting to hot. I havent changed the oil since i bought it 4 days ago but i know the guy put 10w- 30 in it.

Have you checked the oil level?

if its stuck in 1 gear, you may have bent a shift fork... did you get air or hit big bumps and land on the shifter?

well tore my right side off to see what was goin on in there. Everything looked good cept for:

I guess the guy i bought it from jb welded it on as when i pulled the right side off this came off with it.

Now no big deal i got a tig and can weld it properly

Now the thing i am confused on is where in the heck did this thing come from. It just fell out when i took the side off.

I've looked and looked and can't find where that piece goes all my gaskets will be in Tuesday guess I'll slap it together and she if she blows

Is there one behind the primary drive gear? I think if I remeber ther is one there or was in ur case.

Dude....your bike is filthy, unless you were stuck in the middle of nowhere and trying to fx it to make it home, why would you take something in that condition apart? Theres clutch plates and bearings in there, things with tight clearances plus a direrct oil path to the trans. Its like pulling the oil fill plug and pouring an a handfull of sand. Nothing good can come from that. Not trying to sound like an asshat but comeon.......

it looks like a old tore up bearing sleave and is you case cracked in the top left corner it looks like it in the pic?? if so that may be that peace

now that i looked at your pic agian thats a piece broken off of your case i can see it in the top pic better top left corner of the case and the piece that u are holding i can see where it thicker for a bolt hole.

I agree I should of cleaned more then just the outer case. After I saw what the guy I bought it from had done I wanted to tear into it to get it fixed properly. He hb weilded the case together he used caulking for a gasket. I have a race on Saturday my other bike is fine I just wanted to see what this one would do. Stupid on my part yes. And much <3 and appreciate all the help. The first pic is to my case. The third one is the mysterious piece. Guess when I go in on Tuesday to pick up all the parts I'll try to see what they say it is and if it is needed see if the can order me one.

I guess I'm seeing the same as you are , Left side top of first picture looks like that puzzle piece would fit right in
