So I got a pretty good deal on some used tires for my truck a few weeks back. bfgoodrich 285/75/16s.. Paid 200 for them with rims. Just today I got out of work to find it flat and which I found out at the tire shop that it was due to a split sidewall/bead. Unfixable.. Had to order a new one and ONE tire was $230 plus its more for mounting/balancing. Sometime it doesn't pay to save some money buying used things. Not sure what this post is supposed to get across maybe for some sympathy :-[ haha

yeah that sucks man but whatcha gonna do?? lol just bad luck, ive bought used tires and ran em for a long time I:I

i bought 4 used mickey thompson classic II wheels with 4 open country 285/75/16's for 150. the tires were a bit worn out but i knew that when i bought em, and the wheels needed polished up. the wheels brand new are 150 a piece. so i still got a deal i think. but now i have to buy 5 tires. yes, 5 all 4 and 1 for a spare so they are the same size (damn 4wd)

i feel your pain. tires are expensive...idk what type im gonna go with either. dont really wanna spend 1000 bucks or more on tires...but damn they look sweet on my truck!!
the bigger tire makes it look tough...

thats a nice ride ya got there bryan

and as far as buying used your always as risk
thanks man,

and yeah you gotta be careful when buying used(mine were bought from a friend i've known my whole life, and hes had them since new. so our deal was honest and fair)...a good inspection would have maybe let you in on the fact a tire was dry rotted. or you could have done the old air pressure test...see how long they hold air...you can do that on or off the vehicle.

just a thought....

Such a nice truck you got. That's by far my favorite body style that gmc made. I would like to upgrade to that style for my next truck. sounds like you got a super deal on them tires/rims. They quoted me 800 for a set of nitto terra grapplers in the 285 size. 179 a piece.. didnt think that sounded to bad if your looking at getting some maybe check what kind of price you can get. My brother has those tires and I think they have around 40,000 on them and they are still driveable.

thanks, i thought it was a pretty good deal too myself.

i was looking at terragrapplers and dune grapplers. seeing as the only off roading i do is in the dunes mostly. a review i read on the dune grapplers said they work really good in the snow too...(only issue is i need 5 tires, they are expensive sort of)my truck has never seen mud, nor will it...dirt and a few donuts, maybe..but nast soupy mud, or any kind of "mudding"...no

i have more done to that truck than you see, and still have more plans for it...when i get some cash...

The Khumo Road Venture M/T's are pretty awesome if you're looking for a mud tire you can get some miles out of, on or off road. These are just starting to wear and I think I have just over 30k on them and usually the life expectancy of M/T's are 40k on asphalt. Trick is to rotate every 3k miles.
