Okay first we have a 2000 yamaha blaster .30 over with newer exaust. We were riding one day and once you would get into the higher gears it would miss fire... Then another day we were riding it would miss fire when we he was down shifting. and at one point it the atv stalled and then he started it back up and it would move forward and it was like stuck and it would not shift into any other gears and after about 10 mins we got it and that hasnt happend again so far any ideas would be great..

well as far as back fire check the sparkplug the gears check your clutch gears/ clutch gear basket, because i know mine sometimes is hard to get into nuetral when its running but when i turn it off it shifts right up.

It's normal for the gears to not want to shift when you're not moving. Try rocking the quad back and forth a bit. That should let you change down one gear, then rock it a little bit more and it should go again. The gears need to mesh together, and when they're not moving (crank not moving, output not moving) the tops of the teeth can be aligned and so yeah, they're not going together. Cold weather doesn't help...it's because the oil is more viscous.

it would not even shift when it was running and we tried rocking and it would not come out...

so its just stuck in a gear?? what gear? does the clutch work?

We got it outa gear after a second.. And the clutch is kinda all sorts of f*ed up when you pull it in it dont work like i think it should but it did it in 1st gear.. after we started it he just got it to where it was stuck and then kept hitting more and more on the throttle and finally it went

so you had the bike running put it in gear and it didnt move untill you reved the bike up then it took off?? im alittle lost

lol ill try and explain it the bike stalled and we sat there for a min and started it back up and he try to go as you normally would but (you know how atvs have that little rock when its in gear) well he got to the point it would stop and it would not go anymore so we shut if off and then tried rocking it and tried getting it into another gear and all it would do is stay in that gear and after about 5 mins of this he got on started it back up and went to the point it would not go anymore and then held on the gas and it just gave out and went

anyone else lost? so is it going now or not. when you changed gear oil did you look for any chunks of metal? can you push the bike whike in whatever gear its stuck in? will it turn the motor over or is it more like the gears are stuck togeather?
